Black Culture Discussion Thread

I’ve been to Houston a few times. I may be wrong but it just doesn’t seem like a very touristy city so it being a spring break destination now is interesting.
It’s been the go to place for a weekend of brunch/hookah/section in the club type of tourist for a couple years now

imo houston is a great business hub than a tourist destinaiton, especially the international crowd who come here for big business in oil&gas, military and tech. Gotta move with an armed escort if you can afford it cause they target them folks.

Black gloves, ring lights, drone footage...what's next?

People think Houston is the place to be for black folks, in reality it's Dallas.

I have family in all three major Texas cities. I have family in Dallas, San Antonio and Houston. Been a fan of the Houston atmosphere since a kid. My cousin has a home in Pearland.

Born and bread in South Florida but again, always was a Houston guy. I remember attending my cousin’s graduation at Texas Southern in 2005. Also was in Houston in 2010 when she got married. Same scenario. Definitely my kind of city. I really enjoy the city. San Antonio is a hell no for me of course

everyone experience will be different, but Dallas has the money for young black professionals.

… so does Houston. My cousin purchased her two story home in Pearland for dirt cheap in 2010. Brand new.

Can’t NOBODY Convince that Houston isn’t a top 2-3 black city. It’s always been :lol :lol

I just hate how Detroit and Memphis went down in terms of black cities. In my youth (born in 87), I was always aware that Detroit, Oakland, Houston, Memphis and Atlanta were the cities for us…

this is like all major cities but yeah you gotta be careful out here.

I’m so sick of these kind of people. Always complaining about everything. PEOPLE in general are different, not the actual cities.

Human beings are fundamentally different creatures now. The constant blaming and finger pointing needs to be at these type of weirdos

Either way you’re getting a COMPOUND in Texas. It’s to much land and housing developments there not to have a mini mansion for cheap. That’s what I love the most about Texas. Get you a big boy crib with tons of real estate.

Every has a gun and a F-250 or F-350 :lol :lol.

People don’t realize that the whole club/lounge/party scene is trash because the music nowadays suck, everyone has social anxiety or poor social skills, not to mention, people are in these same venues, glued to their phones. That has absolutely NOTHING to do with the city.

Someone in the comments said they paid $200 and the spot played Sexxy Redd all night. You deserved to get scammed for attending something like that. Folks know the type of music and demographic that’s getting catered to before you even step foot into certain places.

You’re supposed to sit back and look at all the foot traffic or the entry line in these places :lol :lol

I just remember switching my location to HOU during the Blackplanet days To look at their girls on the regular.

They still seem to be at the top of that list and this is coming from someone that has seen the Best of the Best in this area.

I laugh every time I see posts about white folks not welcoming them for these St. Patrick’s Day events or saying “the vibes were off”.

Ya don’t say? :lol Why was your Black *** at a St. Patrick’s Day party? That stuff ain’t for us.
Back in the day never ran into this issue ever. Magas real bold out there now though.

Coz the **** didn't work :lol we need to also name names regarding what black radio stations refused to play her music if true

I mean I knew there was this idea that, "She wasn't Black enough" from some of us back in the day but I didn't know it was an attempted MOVEMENT. Sad to see because again, who determines which of us is/isn't Black enough?

That article you posted is the first I heard of it. It's hilarious thinking about it considering how black she actually was...
