Black Culture Discussion Thread

Again, social media has made it OK to embarrass themselves. I’ve had a few “tender” _____ homeboys who have let women use and gank them. I let them learn the hard way. Then, they get mad and want to curse the woman out and call her all types of names. Like bro, you allowed her to use you :lol

I’ve always been that person who minds my business. I don’t give advice. That’s just my modus operandi

Discernment is REAL. If you’re at certain ages and still getting swindled by certain people, that’s on you:lol :lol :lol

… if you don’t have people/relationships figured out by a certain age (not even just romantic relationships) business relationships, work relationships, etc.

STOP PUTTING YOUR BUSINESS ON FRONT STREET, is how I grew up. Posting all on social media, people are laughing at you, not being empathetic.

I once told a woman to keep people out of our business, they’re laughing at you, not with you.

having discernment & ‘needing’ or ‘wanting’ advice are not mutually exclusive…again i’m not really sure what you mean by referencing age, as if there is a cutoff age to learning and/or growing…this is somewhat of an aside but folk that think they can’t be fooled are often the easiest to get over on, all it takes is right set of circumstance

your ‘posting what you have going on’ social media angle is just a sidebar convo because that has nothing to do with the having genuine counsel from people or a person you respect, the decision part is somewhat separate from advice part

what gives these so called ‘gurus’ the run that they have is yes folk’s confirmation bias, their experiences or perspectives on what they see align. for example there is a guy who has been going ‘viral’ for not much more than being very tall & attractive to women, social media exposes the lie women tell when they say these things don’t factor/matter (same when men say they prefer ‘natural’ women, yet the women getting the attention are these manufactured ladies); like those who are & are not these things are not out in the world. what hurts those that try to combat the narratives these man are able to tell is that most are either unwilling or begrudging about the some of the unfortunate realities about all relationships, dismissive of the things that folk see with their own eyes

1) Bro, manufacturered women do not get “all the attention”

2) the average male or female is JADED because they put relationships or the opposite sex over THEMSELVES. They either never learned, or never cared about putting themselves first. I’ve seen it first hand.

3) if you’re in your late 20s, 30s, 40s, etc with SEVERAL failed relationships, you need to start looking within and looking at yourself.

4) let’s say most people start dating at 15/16, by the time you’re 25+, you should kind of have an understanding of what you want. (Which is why I mentioned #2)

Again, if you’re out here just being friendly to every male or female that makes a pass at you, not vetting, or not doing your homework on that person or asking questions, that’s on YOU

People just make EXCUSES when they get to an advanced age and realize that they were “easy” and gave any and everyone a chance. They end up lonely and miserable because of their own actions.

What type of “advice” can a 30, 40 or 50 something receive, at such advanced ages? At that point, they’re the problem and they need to do some deep soul searching and self evaluation. :lol :lol People love to point and blame, but in all actuality, they’re the problem :rollin

never stated ‘all’ but ok…all i’m trying to note is folk have different situations & as such different exposure to things which may lead them to seek advice; not limited to interpersonal relationships…i don’t discount the assessment that people are and/or can be their own problem(s) & are jaded from those things…don’t see what this has to do with seeking advice/a perspective outside of oneself

Dude in the video got on hella makeup, the hell.

But Cooley preaching against single mothers while playing step pops to white kids is WILD. I been noticed he was copying and pasting fresh & fit talking points. Most of these podcasts dudes end up shooting themselves in the foot when you look at their personal life.

I thought he was a butch. Not even gone lie 🤣😂😂 :lol :lol :lol

Ain’t no dam black and brown coalition. These so called leaders and influencers need to understand that and stop saying it. It’s US (black people) and us only…….and that’s okay.
Latinos aint even together like that. There’s a whole hierarchy. That’s who DT got their vote. In their minds he was talking about Mexicans the whole time.

Again, people grown. We all have vices. We all have free will. But I NEVER understood all that smoking and drinking. First of all, oral hygiene and bad breath :lol :lol :lol

Second of all…. S*** nasty as hell. That stress is a mfer for some people though

Goofy. LeBron, YOUR daughter will be fine. There is nothing that you need to protect her from. Celebrities have to cut this nonsense out where they pretend they will be / are affected by the things common folk are affected by. Cut it out man.

Performative nonsense.

You know Serena Williams almost died during childbirth? I get what you're hinting at but insane wealth can't shield you from everything.

He just want to be super girl dad now after the Meg documentary.

You know I'm not referring to women having difficulty during childbirth. Don't do that. Nobody is immune to that.

I am referring to him saying he will protect her from "them" during this time. We know what he is referring to since it was one of the main running points by Kamala.

There is absolutely nothing LeBron James NOW needs to worry about for HIS daughter now that Trump has been elected into office.

I really didn't. It's easy to think being a celebrity or having the trappings of wealth will protect you in all circumstances. But in a lot of circumstances, it won't.

Remember what happened to NBA player Thabo Sefolosha?

Hear about what happened with NBA exec Will Dawkins?

"Once I’m back walking the outdoor mall area, I get two stores down and I’m looking at the Apple Store to my right, thinking about buying my wife new Air Pods that we recently misplaced. Out of the corner of my eye, I see somebody run up on me. They were in plainclothes, jeans and a collared shirt, like a normal civilian. [He] never addressed himself and never showed a badge or anything like that. He tried to grab my arms and hold me down. Instinctually, I pushed him away, put my back against the glass, checked my pockets to see where my phones were, in case they were trying to steal from me, then put my hands up, ready to defend myself or mentally prepared to run if they pull something out. But before the tussle escalated, I saw a police officer come out of my right side. I’m thinking the cop is coming to stop this dude from stealing from me. Instead, the officer grabs me, holds me and tells me to stop resisting."

Being an NBA player or adjacent or related to NBA players doesn't keep you from being in life-threatening situations with Them.

And remember, he called Trump a BUM. Lebron called Trump a BUM. So you know all Trump's crazed followers haven't forgotten that and feel emboldened now. All Lebron's family is in legitimate danger just as a general matter, above and beyond being an NBA player. Lebron and his team don't cross all their t's and dot all their i's and really even if they do, there will magically be some scandal the police under Trump have to investigate Lebron for.

Don't even pretend to act like Lebron is overreacting here. He 100% is not. And you're a teacher right, so you know good and well the lessons of history and know how the government and agents of the state have been used in American history to stifle dissent and to kill people like me, like you, and like Lebron. He's a high profile, outspoken wealthy black man at the height of his popularity and reputation in the NBA. An instant hall of famer. He absolutely has a target on his back the next 4 years and really as long as Trump is around.

Ennis Cosby diddddddddd get killed after someone tried to rob him….

I’m sure if Bill Cosby had it his way, we he would’ve protected his son. So I get what Bron is saying. I get your POV as well

I see both sides. DC you my mans, I understand what you said but I see the other side too. Sometimes you have to reinforce that you’re going to take care of your family no matter WHAT. Cheesed up or not cheesed.

I understand the argument though

Yea you are purposely not even discussing what I'm discussing. You got it.

I'm strictly discussing LeBron feeling the need to say he is protecting his daughter in the scope of protecting her reproductive rights. She is good no matter what in that department.

How that got flipped into me thinking rich black folks can't get harmed is amazing but expected.

That's why I said yall got it.

I get what DC is saying. If push came to shove, Lebron could afford fly to the damn Moon to do what they have to do. Everyone else cannot do that.
