Very interesting interview
Akon ain't lyin' doe, alotta black people try not to associate themselves with Africa or even other black people from other countries(third world, more often). In a way Black Americans are held as superior, I see how it can sometimes get confusing to some people because a lot of people see Black as African-American instead of African-American as black(always weird to see this on applications and whatnot) and they see Haitians, Africans, etc. as other. Would be a positive to see a greater understanding of the fact that we're all from Africa and African-Americans "AFRICAN"

Mention slavery and it's, "Forget the past and move on."
Ask to remove relics of white supremacy and it's, "You're trying to erase history!"

Pretty much. We (our race) tend to allow the media and those that aren't us dictate what we should care about. Then we have those who manipulate the foolish ones to influence the ripe minds of our younger cats. But when u expose this, you're crazy, thinking too much into it, etc etc.

I bet most if not all white ppl couldn't tell u why black and white, in terms of race was created. Wasn't like it just came to be.

We need a group of us to stand up and say "No, we're not going to let (insert item here) go so it can be ignored." We have some that are already like this but they're taking the wrong approach.

Some real talk. I'm sure all of us remember in school the African kid would get made fun of for the way they talked or facial features. Even adults talk **** about Africans, "These Africans" whatever whatever. And we don't even realize what we're saying and why we have this mindset for our people.

Went to see Tariq in ATL with my girl, great enviornment, and it was beautiful to see everyone there was with there significant other

I wanted to hit up the Philly lecture but I had no significant other and I knew my ex was going to be there. Couples go hard at black empowerment lectures.
