Is it really possible the government has broken ground on time/dimensional travel and figure this would be a way to test it without anyone noticing....but people noticed and since news over social media travel faster than anything, this is now going viral?....that's my theory.

I think the one reason I'm not tripping about this is I'm pretty sure I remember they did a fluff piece on the news about this once where they had the actually authors, and they said their name was always 'Stain', but when the book was first read aloud, it was pronounced 'Stein', and because it seemed to flow off the tongue better, they just let them cook. No biggie.
You guys don't actually remember seeing 'Stein', you just remember pronouncing it 'Stein', and since you already had the preconceived notion that it was in fact 'Stein', that was what you think you remember seeing. The error is phonically. Your mind played tricks on you for 25 years. And you let em do it. washed.

We just grew up and learned to associate -stein with names. And thus, as adults, when remember the book series, we remember it as -stein instead of -stain.

The trick is easy to understand, people just don't pay attention to things that don't mean that much to them. Most people probably never read full words. The mind is a powerful thing. We read just enough and your brain fills in the rest so you can move on. It's why when you hear people read aloud, sometimes you hear them say words that are not even on the page and they don't even realize it. You heard once or you pronounced the book, 'Berenstein Bears', so once you knew the name, or at least the name you thought you knew, you had no reason to really ever read that part of the title again. Your eyes probably just shot to the 2nd part of the cover and that was all you focused on.
