Bachelor Pad.

Went furniture hunting again today and found a few more great pieces I'll be adding to the home. I was so excited finding a perfect and comfortable sectional that was the exact size i needed.

Also found an amazing clock for the living room I fell in love with.

Got a great deal on a sound bar I was eyeing for months $150 cheaper then I thought it was at Best Buy.

Still hunting for a solid TV stand to hold my 65inch tv with a specific space for a sound bar.

This is the one I originally wanted - Sonax B-003-RBT Bromley 75-Inch 2 Tier TV Bench, Ravenwood Black it's $499.99 but it's sold out everywhere. Literally everywhere.

This is the one I'm currently looking at - Sonax B-207-CHT Holland 70.75-Inch Extra Wide TV/Component Bench, Ravenwood Black -same company, retail price $349.99

Here is the newest tv stand I found also $350 also Sonax

my sound bar (Polk Audio SurroundBar 5000) is 31 inches and the space in that ^ stand for the sound bar is 33 inches so it just fits

still searching though...but that's where I'm at so far.

Thanks for all the kind words so far

Well...I had a busy day.

Had a meeting with my contractor, putting about 5K into redoing my kitchen.

Then went to PC Richards and got my beloved TV i've been looking at the Samsung UN65H7150 65-Inch 1080p 240Hz 3D Smart LED TV

and I got this stand because PC Rirchard gave me a price on the tv and stand and hdmi cable, optical cable and 36 month financing for a price I couldn't refuse

It looks clean and elegant

Then met with my buddy who is an electrician and he's gonna install high hats into my place before my painters get to work on Monday. Very exciting stuff

What's everyone's rule of thumb in relation to your finances and having your own place? More so to renting. I've heard that your rent should be one week's pay. Anyone else care to share some things they tend to abide by?

It isn't how much you make but how much you spend. You gotta factor in your other expenses. Car note, utilities, entertainment. Even job stability plays a role.

This.

But also combined household earnings.
Yep. I've never been one to do the roommate thing. IMO You can't rely on someone who doesn't necessarily have your best interest at heart. I've seen people's roommates just move out and leave them hanging. But I factor in my wife's income. And she does help some with the bills. But majority is on me.

Day 3 officially owning the place was a lot of hard labor. 2nd trip to Home Depot in 24 hrs and another $200 spent...

today my buddy who is an apprentice electrician and I spent the day trying to install 6 high hats into my living room. It consisted of measuring and planning where the lights would go, cutting the holes out and most difficult of all was feeding wire through the entire ceiling.

We got about half of it done.

Makes you really appreciate those who do this for a living, it's not easy. But I'm hoping that doing it myself, with the help of my friend who knows what he's doing, I'm helping, I'll appreciate the work more.
------------------

my newest conundrum is finding a comfortable sectional sofa with a chaise that isn't wider than 100 inches. Everywhere I've gone the best ones I've found are about 103.5 and that's too big for the wall I'll be putting it against.

The hunt continues.

I'm really enjoying the process but it's not easy.

Awesome. Seems like you are doing a a lot. I will say that Home Depot has been my 2nd home.

Had friends over today and wife made a huge southern meal. Amazing feeling to have everyone eat in the dining room and then enough room to crash and watch movies afterward.

can't wait for this feeling...picked out my table today. I don't have a ton of space to work with, my living room is 12x17 and I'm splitting it in half - one side will be my living room for the tv & video games and entertainment - the other side dining room.

not bad for $10, seems like it would be really heavy.

I'm currently looking for a solid book shelf / dvd shelf - I doubt I'll be able to fit all books and dvds together since I have close to 500 but I'm lookin!

Just moved - I picked this up for $10 at a yard sale. It's basically some planks of stained wood and bricks.

I like it. I would rearrange the planks short, long, short, long (pause) for a different look. I would also spray paint the bricks a bold color like orange or yellow.

Since you have limited space I would look into mixing and matching high and low. Maybe a tall bookcase on one side and a lower 2 shelf on another. I've been looking for something like this for my office.

current sale (ends tonight) is 40% off.... use code ZRZ646

I definitely want art for my place...but I'm having trouble pinpointing what exactly.

I definitely want 1 or 2 movie posters in nice frames...maybe even signed of some of my favorites.

Maybe some autographed memorabilia, like Eli's pass to Plaxico in the SB 42.

and some other "real" art paintings through out the house...but hard to find something I really love from what I've seen researching the web

Just moved in my apt on Friday. My first bachelor pad. Got a 2 bedroom to myself on the southside in DC. Got a few things before I moved in. Give me some tips or something that y'all notice.

krider31 krider31 congrats on the spot. I know u just moved in so things start off slowly. first tackle the room. Id get a nice bed frame for the mattress. Dnt forget to hook up the bathroom. Thats usually My first place I take care of when moving into a new spot. Females appreciate a nice bathroom. And I would put the tv on the opposite wall if possible, just looks kinda off right by that door.

I'm close to closing on Escrow ...mad nervous and excited at the same time ...but anyway, i'm looking for a corner TV stand, instead of mounting it on top of the fireplace, any good site? I have an old 52 inch Samsung LCD TV ...

Anybody throw a Barbers pole light joint up in their apartment yet?

Thinking of grabbing one in the future.
