Asian Culture Discussion Thread

I took United to Beijing on economy +... never again. I mean the plane was on time but the seats were just terrible.

ANA from tokyo to LAX was :pimp:

EVA airlines GOAT affordable airline to and from Taipei from anywhere

EVA or China airlines FTW. These taiwanese airlines know whats up. My last flight to MNL via TPE, I had a newer plane and the flat screen was probably 9 inches in diameter in Economy.

Flight times are red eye too. So it's such a time saver.

Like everyone is saying, for me going with an Asian airline vs everything else is totally worth the extra cost.
Korean Air Business Class is the GOAT for me. Food/service/stewardesses all top notch. The Skypass lounge at LAX is pretty good too.

Once I took United back to Korea. Got a seat right up against the wall with the "screen" - my knees were touching the wall in front the whole time - asked/begged for a switch or something - attendants gave zero effs and told me I could stand and walk around when the seat belt light was off.
Sitting without being able to straighten your legs for the 10 hours.

Asian tourism and hospitality is just better in general. Get a 5 star hotel in Asian and compare that to a 5 star in Europe/America. Difference is astounding.

Exactly, Euro trash gonna euro trash. American or Canadian 5 star crap. Trash Service I tell ya. I have to go to diamond level hotels to match the service I get in 5 star hotels in Asia.

Speaking of Europe, anyone experience some pretty bad racism there?

Italy and parts of Germany were the worst. I loved Europe as a place to visit because of all the history and culture, but **** ever living there. They assume I’m just another rude tourist or they just downright don’t like Asians.

I’ll never forget that one lady’s face when I walked into her shop in Venice. **** one day I’ll buy that damn shop and make sure to change the name to “diversity”. Heated just thinking about it

^ why what did the lady in venice do?
if you dont mind telling

It was a jewelry store and I was getting some earrings for my girlfriend at the time. Soon as I walked in her face dropped. I asked her what the price of a set of earrings were and she said “you can’t afford it or won’t buy it anyway, you people are too cheap”. I somehow kept me cool and just forced out a laugh. Then I asked her if the stores always floods (Venice crazy like that) and she just looked at me with a blank stare.

Then a white couple walks in and ***** did a 180 with her attitude. I know it’s nothing compared to what other people deal with but I hate discrimination with a passion. Ended up buying it anyway, tipped her for helping too. The only way to cure these people is with compassion and generosity. At least that’s what I thought at the time.

The only way to to deal with condescending attitude is more condescending attitude.

Should have responded with a "I'm nice to you gypsies, but if u got hate against me, God bless". And just walk on out of there.

Also, its 2/3rds of the axis of evil. Imperial Japan, Nazi Germany, and Mussolini's Italy are the most racist bunch. So keep your guard up and have teflon skin.

In the hopes that my act of "generosity" and not being phased by her racism will knock her to her senses.

Naive but I think it's a better route to act in a conflicting way. That only serves to back up her already stupid beliefs as messed up as it sounds.
I don't know man, stories like these are what inspires me:

Not dealing with hate by dishing out more conflict

I respect this..but u could have just bounced out of there without causing a scene or raising ur voice..if she disrespected u..u could have went to another jewelry store

I completely get that, but what does that achieve.

In her mind, it'll just be another Asian passing through not buying anything cause we're cheap.
Hopefully after I left, she maybe though "He bought something and acted politely even though my attitude toward him was terrible, maybe they aren't all the same".

Again, it's naive I know

If you paid in cash you should’ve threw the money in her face like some hail.

Nah, now she's happy that she was able to disrespect you and STILL make a profit off you. The only way these savages will learn is if more and more people stop supporting their businesses

And yeah, from my experience, Italy has the highest number of racists outside of Eastern Europe. Racism and sexism are very common over there compared to other modern European countries. It hasn't happened to me personally since I can blend in physically, but the way many of them talk about and treat black people is disgusting, so I can imagine them doing the same for Asian people as well.

This is so backwards to me though, since a lot of Asian people are the ones that basically keep Italian/European brands and tourisn alive. Look at the main demographic of all those huge tour groups and customers cleaning out Gucci, Ferragamo, etc. You'd think they'd at least keep their mouth shut to maintain their biggest stream of income

Obviously I'm not saying all Italians are like this; just saying it's more common there in big Italian cities compared to somewhere like London or Paris. It's still better and safer than many parts of the US.

Bro no offense, that was an idiot move for tipping her on top of supporting her business.

Ironic how we're here to discuss how we're perceived as being submissive and here you are going above and beyond trying to impress a bigot.

**** like that shouldn't fly with anyone.

Just boarded my ANA flight to Tokyo/Jakarta. So much more legroom in basic economy than United!!!

Was she at least nicer when you bought the item/tipped her?

I haven't experienced any blatant, outright racism as an adult. Not sure how I would react.

It doesnt change the fact that she treated him like a piece of ****. You cant be out here buying respect.

Homie went 0/3 in that situation.

Got disrespected
Still supported her business
Gave additional money on top

Ultimate display of weakness.

I understand your intent but I don’t think you achieved your goal by still supporting that sales person/establishment.
