Graduated with my bachelors in Accounting back in August. Currently looking for any oppurtunity(internship or full time) in Atlanta right now. Just working part time and traveling in the mean time.

Graduating in May. Have two interviews this week with two regional CPA firms for a post graduate full time position. Excited and nervous

Interviewed with a Cpa firm yesterday. Was wondering if I should send a follow up email saying thank you? What do you guys normally do? Sit around and wait or follow up immediately?

I always send a follow up email the next day (or afternoon if it was an early morning interview) thanking someone for their time, especially if it went well.

Lol what? How would you even go about doing this - this isn't the movies. Yep, I send out that email right away with a few tiny tidbits about our conversation (to show I was listening). It is usually well received. Everyone hates sending + receiving these honestly. Nothing is being communicated except that both sides know how to play by the rules (which is important).

Anyone who has worked or interviewed with the big 4, how is the process? Received an email from PWC and they asked me to sign up for a slot for a phone interview. Will I be speaking to the recruiter and will it be more technical or behavioral questions? Any advice appreciated!

Yeah that is how things used to be done before email was really popular. I haven't ever heard someone sending a hand written letter in recent years.
Honestly it is really weird IMO, and how would you know where to address it to?

it'll be a little of both technical and behavioral but they will definitely be looking to see how you fit in with the team. to them training you isn't as important as how you'll get along with your team.
this was told to me by a recruiter for kpmg
Well since i do recruiting and interviews I always appreciate the person who took my business card and wrote a thank you card
It's hardly the movies, it's called professionalism
Not saying and email doesnt do work too but I get 100's of email a day. Rather see someone go against the grain.

Weird is getting the same thank you email 2 hours after The interview when it was also clearly copied and pasted.
Do what you want. My perspective is only that of my own as a Senior Manager in audit of a Big 4. You dont want to stand out do the same as everyone else interviewing before you

I've never sent a thank you email or card , and it worked out for me just fine.
I also don't work in the same field as you all , I'm in IT/Tech.

During my recruiting season last semester, I wrote a thank you card to the interviewer of a small CPA firm right after the interview was over. There were associates outside of the room that were assigning us who we were interviewing with, so I just told them if they could hand the card to my interviewer whenever they had time. But when I interviewed with Grant Thornton, I got interviewed 3 times, so I emailed each of them the day after, thanking them for their time, etc, etc. Writing a hand written letter isn't weird and as LazyJ10 said, you stand out of the crowd.

For those who are worried about the interviews and even starting in January FT or internships here's a tip my Performance manager told me my first day. "I don't expect you to know ****, we'll teach you everything you need to know."
So like Krazybluntzz said along with a few others, as long as you fit in with your group and can learn what you are taught you'll be fine. Just be authentically friendly and you'll be fine. And if you are aiming for the Big 4 but don't get in, just get into a national or regional, put in 2-3 years and by then the Big 4 will be begging you to join then because 80%+ of their recruiting classes will be gone. I know in NYC for example, PWC wants seniors and managers so desperately that they are paying 25-30% above market rate at times for exceptional candidates. Had one friend do that recently. Though RIP to her since she's doubling her hours

Now imagine taking that and taking intermediate 1, 2, and 3(I know some schools do this) combined into 1 class. Now say hello to my spring 2014 semester while I was interning for 24 hours per week, working for another 35 hours per week, and taking 2 other classes. I don't think I have ever been as stressed out in my life as I was doing that. I was dreaming intermediate material during the nights when I actually could have dreams.:x Intermediate really separates the boys from the men so just stick with it and you'll be fine. But that class requires a lot of work and repetition. It's doable, just stay focused, you are more than halfway through already anyway.

Lol man I worked as a Night Auditor at a Hilton 10 minutes outside of DC while in College. Boring during the week but wild on the weekends.

Interviewed with a firm in early October. Thought I nailed it: 5weeks later, no response. Did I not get it or is it still in the process?

Wrote a thank you note about a week after. Haven't followed up and asked about the status because I've been told the hiring process takes up to months so idk if I should wait a bit longer or contact them
