All Things Sports Media Thread!!

I'm sure ESPN will pull things off and make them subscription only, and then do some exclusives on there to incentivize purchases. Just creating more silos unfortunately.

When we asked for this in the late 80s and 90s, we were dumb

30ish years later and it's like yeah I know we SAID we wanted to be able to just buy the channels and content we wanted, but we were stupid.

Why is espn still trying to create their own hype for a qb drafted 144? For months before the draft they talked about him everyday on all their shows even though no one cared. mel kiper had a meltdown on draft weekend and showed how much of an idiot and clown he was. I watch sportscenter in the morning and they talk about the cleveland qb competition everyday but I highly doubt anyone cares. Give up already. you tried to manufacture hype for someone and failed.

Just saw the announcement

I don't think Mike will say much in the way of real analysis because he's never been like that. Love Mike and he's been the goat to me for a long long time, but one thing sorely lacking was him talking like you see LeBron and Kobe talk about the game. Talking about the plays. Talking about sets and structure. I think the most known thing he said was that if Lebron goes left he's going to pull up. If he goes right, he's going to the basket, so force him left (or whatever direction was which).

…...and then a few days later after Mike said that in an All-Star game Kobe FORCED LeBron to go left and got the steal from LeBron and Kobe’s team won the game. Mike truly is the GOAT.

If you get a chance check out the dan Patrick interview with Ray Allen. During the interview Ray has a display of white green Jordans 1-30.

They white/green xvii and green/white xv are absolutely gorgeous.

Ray’s PEs were always nice. I’m fond of his white/green 23s.

From one Boston legend to another but idk y they keep adding to this fodder as if it’s doing anything to add to the Tatum legacy.

Just listened to this. It was actually a good conversation. Van has brought up the wealth gap between Whites and Blacks before on higher learning. He brings up Baltimore and Boston in this conversation.

This is why the NBA ratings discourse bothered me and seemed contrived at times. When other sports go through fluctuations and ratings it never became a talking point and there aren't conversations about how to "fix the game". The NBA is the only sport that gets treated this way.

"OMG the sport is dying!"
"They need to fix the game!"
"Go woke go broke"

Cant really be judging your sport vs nhl or mlb these days, those especially feeling more niche as years go by

But this is wild

Football Night in America to Basketball Night in America to Baseball Night in America

NBC really gonna have their hands in NFL, NBA and MLB by 2026 huh? I know their pockets are deep but yea...
