All Things Sports Media Thread!!

How much pull kornheiser got at espn that he can do bills podcast like that :lol

He's probably some sort of contract employee, specifically for PTI (he literally does nothing else). Kind of like how Jay Bilas was a contractor for many years (that's how Bilas was able to work March Madness for CBS). Cousin Sal appears on Sportscenter, is an ABC employee, and he can go on Bill's podcast.

He probably wanted Troy to be his cowboy.

Nah, Harlabob is a pompous *** who thinks his poop don't stink. He acts like he knows more about basketball than everyone else, and he'll let you know about it.

I do think he's a good listen but it is amusing that whole hardheartedly feels he can construct rosters and coach in-game as well the people who actually do it. Didn't see him concede that in the Finals that Ty Lue was proven right and he was wrong.

& I know you're set up to lose following Zach Lowe to start with but I decided to go on the Ringer for the first time in weeks and this is what I see:

https://theringer.com/the-nbas-new-lineups-of-death-7e52303954a1#.6fue793g3https://theringer.com/the-nbas-new-lineups-of-death-7e52303954a1#.6fue793g3

This reads like something from BleacherReport circa 2009.

Then this dude at the start Free Agency and the rolling out of the Ringer says he's going to take a break from twitter. He seems like a very strange guy. I know Bill has to feel like he got a lemon.

I liked Tjarks, but every article is about wingspans and comparisons to the Warriors. :lol

I hate that he had to stop writing on his blog after he linked with The Ringer. I liked that much more than his stuff on realGM and medium.

Yeah for sure. I don't like him because he just talks down to you.

He does win a ton of money in gambling though right?

I miss Bill and actual NBA writers/reporters on the podcasts like Lowe, Stein, Windhorst, etc. Now it's just his friends shooting the **** about the NBA, which is cool but can get old.
I miss him with Kevin Wildes.

I miss the Half Baked ideas

The last straw for me was when he did that playoff preview pod with Simmons and said he knew the secret to beating to Golden State, but wouldn't reveal it. Like he's some all-knowing savant who has seen things coaches can't see in game film. *****. Also, his complete dismissal of OKC was just as bad. We're talking about a team that had a track record of deep playoff runs (when healthy), with a better team than they had in the past. And he completely trashed them. I know it seems like I'm cherry picking examples, but those are two egregious recent ones.

Simmons and their NFL guys do that too though.. Well mays and barnwell.. Always founds it funny when they said something so matter of factly only to be proven wrong or they simply glossed over something of signifigance.. I get that following all teams as much I follow my 1 team is hard, but you just need to follow a couple beat writers for the team or hell even just the right one

Lowe while dry and over technical was good with that aspect of things.. Jalen too

There have been a number of great interviews on the vertical as of late on the topic of Iverson

Billy King

Larry Brown / 3D

Some solid stories there. Especially from Billy King.

Can't wait until the HOF man. Probably the class that connects with US (28-35) age range since those were the players that we grew up watching.

Can't wait man

Oh trust me, I remember that pod

Also, Simmons and Rappaport were line-stepping all of the "cawk" talk. Like damn man, how much do you think we care about that

Michelle Beadle and Sage Steele to Split ESPN's NBA Countdown Hosting Role

Michelle Beadle and Sage Steele will split the host role for ESPN’s NBA Countdown this season, The Big Lead has learned from a source with knowledge of the situation. The source requested anonymity because he wasn’t authorized to speak publicly on the matter. An ESPN spokesperson declined to comment for this story.

Last year, Steele hosted Countdown on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, and Doris Burke hosted Wednesdays. This year, Beadle will be on Wednesday and Friday, and Steele will do Saturdays and Sundays. In the move, Steele will become what the source described as a “face” of remote SportsCenters, where she’ll anchor on the road from big events such as the World Series, Super Bowl, Masters and NFL Draft.

Doris Burke will have an expanded role as an analyst and reporter in the NBA and for both men’s and women’s college basketball games. In the past, Beadle, who will remain on SportsNation, has occasionally filled in on Countdown.

What a coincidence. Earlier I was just thinking of how beadle has been on a long vacation from sportsnation and how she filled in last year on nba countdown. She seems a better fit for that show than Sage bae is. Doris is cool too when she's in the studio hosting.

TrueHoop Podcast: The Hall of Fame Show - ESPN http://www.espn.com/espnradio/play?id=17453185

TrueHoop Podcast: The Hall of Fame Show: 9/2/16
Kevin Pelton, Jackie MacMullan and Curtis Harris discuss this year's Hall of Fame class, examining Shaquille O'Neal, Allen Iverson, Yao Ming, Sheryl Swoopes and more.

Excellent discussion on Swoopes...........

mays and barnwell are basura

Barnwell blocked me on Twitter

he wrote a story about the Eagles RB signings..When the contract details were released it rendered everything he said wrong.. I asked if he was going to amend the story considering the new information at hand, I guess he didn't appreciate it

on bill's podcast today, dude said something along the lines of: "Eagles are trading 2nd round picks for 6th rounders.. Like the Browns"

Eagles traded 1 2nd round guy (Rowe), to the pats for a 4th that could become a 3rd

The Browns traded 2 guys they took top 10 for a 5th and a 6th

Listening to JJ with Paul Shirley now............

Good talk about how SHirley didn't really enjoy that NBA life

AI HOF speech was incredible. There's a reason he was an icon, even playing in an era with so many NBA legends.

Ready for this season to start and relevant NBA content to start rolling.
