It’s barely see through. Only the middle piece is slightly translucent. The two ends have backing.

That backing is a problem IMO on the light colored V2’s. Looks like a force field in the toe box.

Not necessarily. It makes sense as far as placement on the shoe. The stripe has always been a big part of the V2 design.
