To sort of answer your question, my guess would be a NO. I believe that Adidas paint adhesion performance is better than painting it on your own.
Now I do not have Adidas painted boost but I did had some in hand and did some light test indoor.
Since I got tired of waiting for Adidas, I have converted my CB1 into TB. First time I was too excited and didn't bother to prep the surface. This resulted in crack and peel.
So I stripped the paint(as much as I could). then prep surface with acetone. Then re-dye and re-coat it. After 2 weeks of beating in dry and wet and gym. The paint does crack and peel a little but that's if you are looking right at the shoes. From 3 feet they are just fine. I am happy with it.

FYI sizes are in UK so if you saw an 11 it was a US 11.5.
