It's stupid. Last year was really good year for movies, so Shutter Island never stood a chance for awards. So they pushed it back, but they couldn't push it back a year since trailers already came out saying November. Inception made Shutter Island stop existing even more.

Yes it def would have, I think an early release really hurt it's chances for noms.  Also with the release of Inception, it kinda took away from Leo's best actor nomination.

Golden Globes are a joke usually, I don't take it that seriously... even the Oscars have their faults and mistakes over the years, so the Golden Globes don't mean much.

As much as I loved Inception, and though nothing I see for the rest of the year will top what I just saw, Best Picture is between Black Swan and The Kings Speech.

And I wish the mom in Black Swan wasn't getting overlooked. But I guess her screen time didn't qualify for a supporting nomination?

Movie/T

Here are my predictions...(I've seen every major Oscar nom movie, so I have a good idea about it all, I think)

Best Motion Picture – Drama = The Kings Speech

the only movies that really have a shot at this are The Kings Speech, Black Swan and The Social Network and when it comes down to overall movie + knowing how these awards work...I think The Kings Speech walks away the winner, if it shockingly does lose, it will lose to The Social Network.

Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture – Drama = Natalie Portman

This is no contest to me, Natalie Portman delivered the performance of her career and in my opinion the best female acting job I've ever seen. It was a complete transformation and it's the closest to a female equivalent of Heath Ledger as The Joker in "The Dark Knight" we are going to get. (While I don't think anyone else was close to Portman, the only other performance that was very good was Jennifer Lawrence in "Winters Bone")

Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture – Drama = Colin Firth

My favorite acting job of the year was Jessie Eisenberg in "The Social Network", that was until last night after I came back from seeing "The Kings Speech." Colin Firth delivers on every level...stunning performance.

Best Motion Picture – Comedy Or Musical = The Kids Are All Right

While I don't think this will win, it certainly should win. An amazing movie that has everything you want in it, Annette Benning was great so was Julliane Moore and Mark Ruffalo. I loved this but I think this might end up going to Alice in Wonderland...which wasn't that great. (why the hell is The Tourist in this category?)

Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture – Comedy Or Musical = Anne Hathaway

this was really tough because Bennette was really good in "The Kids are Alright" but Anne Hathaway was awesome as the Jake Gyllenhaal love interest with Parkinsons in "Love and Other Drugs"

Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture – Comedy Or Musical - Paul Giamatti

Depp was a joke in both Alice in Wonderland and The Tourist, Spacey played a common role in Casino Jack and I doubt they give the award to Jake, Giamatti wins as the home wrecker he plays.

Best Performance by an Actress In A Supporting Role in a Motion Picture - Amy Adams

This was a really tough category as many can win here and I won't be mad. Adams played the gritty, no nonsense "mtv girl" GF of Wahlberg in the Fighter really well, she even gained some weight for the role by drinking alot of beer. Her co star in the movie Melissa Leo was fantastic as well and I think she may win if Adams does not. Kunis was good on Black Swan but not good enough. Also Bonham Carter could have won this with more screen time.

Best Performance by an Actor In A Supporting Role in a Motion Picture - Christian Bale

I've been wrestling with this category since I left the theater last night. Christian Bale gave the best performance of his career since "The Machinist" while Geoffrey Rush plays the speech therapist in "The Kings Speech" to perfection. What it comes down to is the extent the character has to go to in order to execute the role and Bale's efforts win here.

Best Animated Feature Film - Toy Story 3

While I enjoyed Despicable Me more, TS3 will win, everyone knows that.

Best Director – Motion Picture - Darren Aronofsky – Black Swan
another category which any of the nominee's may win, I'll give to Aronofsky for his depiction of the story, leaving the audience in awe and not knowing what was real and what was not.

Best Screenplay – Motion Picture - Aaron Sorkin

bringing Facebook to the big screen as well as he did, Sorkin wins.

Best Original Score – Motion Picture - Hans Zimmer

another amazing score by Zimmer...just another notch on his belt.
