2024 MLB Thread; RIP Willie Mays & Pete Rose. Dodgers win #8!

Chapman signing with the Sox is gonna be a pain in the *** all yr.

I got an attorney at my job who's pretty connected who told me it's between the Yanks and Muts only for Soto and the Muts have a very strong upper hand. He said the Yanks ain't willing to go crazy throwing money at him but the Muts are. I got depressed right away cause this attorney has had Cohen there at my job so if he knows something usually thats the deal. If the Yanks lose em it's gonna sting like all hell, especially where he's going. Just hope there's a good enuff backup plan.

There's still hope 🙏

Been lots of analysts saying Hal is being aggressive with this one.

What the hell is Golden at bat????
It’s like a rule they may want to put in place to allow the team to insert their best hitter at any point in an inning. Negating the the batting order at some point in an inning. It’s dumb.

How so? I come in peace. I come in peace.
Yankees roster feels old and has too many holes that can’t be addressed as easily if they sign Soto. Mets have more money available and a good young core with prospects they can trade. Yankees get the edge on rotation though.

So with that golden at bat rule if a team intentionally walks a hitter they could have him bat again straight away!?!? Dumbest thing ever.

Also if a player hits a hr the team could then put him up again in the same inning if a pitching change was made? Yea seems like a great idea. I'm sure there are many other scenarios I'm not thinking of. Please Manfred, don't do this gimmick.

So.....every inning, or just like the 9th?

Judge could bat in the 9th, then get to bat again in the 9th?

Dudes are gonna hit 85 homers a year getting extra freebie at bats.

I'd just walk every golden at bat dude. Or hit them, or somethin.

Pitch clock, great.
Runner on second in extras, meh.
Golden at bat, doin too much.

Current average age of the Mets roster is 28.9 which is the oldest in the league. Yankees is 27.8, which is 25th. It’s really not that different. Not sure of the holes though either. Yankees have Dominguez ready to replace Verdugo and Durbin they’re saying is ready to replace Torres.

I think you have as many questions though if we’re being honest. Y’all for sure need another SP, maybe 2, even after you signed Montas. (Holmes as a SP, I’d want no part of). Is Vientos your starting 3B, can he repeat those numbers, or is Baty competing for it and the answer? Will Marte play more than 120 games in a season for yall yet? Last two seasons he hasn’t even played 100. Nimmo just a bad season or signs to worry? He’s owed 20 mil/yr until 2031. McNeil down year or reason to worry as well?

The Yankees aren’t exactly short on money, and one of the things Soto has asked/stated in his meetings, is that whatever team signs him, can’t just stop at him. They have to be able to continue to build the roster around him and there’s 5 teams that have thrown him $550-600 mil contracts. So there’s plenty of money outside of the Mets - see the Dodgers.
