I know what you're saying, and If I'm an NBA GM--I'm not doing business with another team in my division. But at this point, you have to listen to all offers, no? That's just bad business for the team at that point.

Why would BK want to trade KD into the same conference? That equally makes no sense. BTW, IF the Knicks do land Mitchell, that pretty much kills the Suns' chances of picking up KD, because they needed the Pacers AND Jazz in a trade to make it work.

They know they won't be near a contender without him so what difference would it make for their own fortunes?

If an East squad can offer them the best package that helps them remain competitive right now, that's where they'll send him

Gotcha. Didn't know that his Nigerian ancestry was as recent as his parents. I thought it was thought it was further down the line, at least maybe 2 or 3 generations back.

As a first gen who's spent extensive time back home, I feel like it's different if you don't need to do an ancestry test to find out where you came from. You've been directly exposed to the people and culture your whole life.

So it is a little weird to never visit, but then again every Nigerian I know has very little desire to be back in Nigeria so anecdotally it seems to be on brand.

It'd be like the Clips trading Kawhi or PG to the Lakers.

Giannis has yet to visit Nigeria in his life and he’s been a millionaire for damn near a decade now.

Goes to Greece and basically tours all of Europe every Summer.

My boy goes back as often as possible. He just was there in January. But he did say most of his cousins haven’t been and have no desire to go. His brother went once and doesn’t ever want to go again

In this instance...the people and culture = JUST his mother and father. Just like storm2006 said...NONE of us can speak to how much they encouraged his Nigerian "pride" or how he should go back one day, etc.

It just seems like strange discourse because he's such a high profile player and this is a weird time when it comes to anything surrounding race, ethnicity, culture, etc. Never seen anyone care if Lu Dort or Shai have ever "been back" to Barbados or Haiti. Do we care if Tristan Thompson has been to Jamaica or not?

So many weird sub narratives pop up whenever it comes to Giannis and Nigeria for some reason.
