Is this true? Cats were calling DBook a looter under more impressive circumstances. RJ has CLEAR limitations that are being discussed throughout the thread. This isn’t Knicks’ bias.
Trey, Poole, Luka, Zion, Ja, Herro, Garland, Maxey, Ant and Lamelo are his only contemporaries doing just as well or better than him. When they're being gushed over and propped up as the future of the league it's crickets.

But when Knicks fans feel slightly good about the potential of their guy now we gotta compare him to ****** 5 years older and retcon current stars' earlier seasons to act like they came out the gate giving ****** 27 a game.

I'm not even saying he's generational or anything. EYE'm just saying he's already a decent scorer who has shown enough potential to me that missing out on Donovan Mitchell for him isn't a crime against basketball.

LITERALLY the same ones talked about in the draft thread before we even knew what the draft order would be

The Knicks won’t trade RJ.

Brunson-Spida-RJ-Randle-Mitch is a max second round exit. This atleast puts us in a position to be an exiting team where maybe, just maybe another all star would like to come. Then you can figure out the rest later.

I think RJ can be the 2nd best player on a great team.

Same with Mitchell.

My issue is going after Brunson and knowing you wanted to pursue Donovan, that defense just will be atrocious. I'd rather we not trade for him at all. I'm not a fan. But it seems to be something that's happening so it is what it is. Making the playoffs and hitting the 2nd round would be great considering how awful we have been. What I really want we just can't do right, which is bottom out long enough to get superstar talent and build from there. So it is what it is.

Oh and absolutely not worth trading RJ. Even if I thought he would be the 3rd star on a contending team, Mitchell is not worth that to me. Picks and all the other guys? Sure. Take it whatever but not RJ.

the issue with the "Brunson/Mitchell would be awful defensively" argument is that the current backcourt is Brunson/Fournier
If we don't get Mitchell we gotta give Grimes that starting spot and just see what it looks like

Swear I was about to just point out how people are kinda of gassing Brunson/Mitchell being such a detrimental backcourt on defense. Mitchell being a problem at the point of attack is not supposed to be happening. He was considered a guy who supposed to be VERY good on defense right away and a work in progress on offense. It's been the opposite with him.

****** didn't know he was 6'1 until the league start listing real heights...so that's not why he's been bad on that end. It's an effort thing w/ him. Just like Wiggins.

****** assume someone being 6'5 makes them automatically a good defender or something.

Lou Will

Big cap. He shot 40% last year. Still a below league average from 3. Still average from the foul line. He hasn’t improved as a shooter. Maybe your eyes see something else than what the stats show.

Zero teams are taking him over garland. Doubt he’s getting selected over herro either.
Herro, the guy who teams hunt for when they need a bucket gets drafted over RJ Barrett?

Like I said, it be some ignorant **** that just don’t be worth it most times. Added 1 to the list.

Ppl are conflating the fact that RJ being untouchable for someone like Donovan Mitchell means he’s on the path to top 10 in the league at any point of his career.

Not one Knicks fan can truly see that at this point. But it’s also wildly insulting to the kids work ethic to cap him outside of it.

And RJ’s “limitations” should be propped up against Donovan Mitchell’s. No point mentioning other top 3s when he’s the supposed centerpiece here and least trash among a heap of nothing but.

He may not have elite elite athaleticism or speed, but that hasn’t really stopped him thus far. He was the #1 ranked coming into that class before Zion & Ja, two literal freaks of nature, showed up to take their places.

So many more factors that go into a blossoming star’s development. I’m good on getting that transcript right now.

Seeing RJ at 21, I do believe he’s going to be better than Jimmy Butler at his peak. Where he lands or how far above that idk.

You saw Miami struggled to score when he was out right? The heat probably are a finals team if he’s healthy. He has his playoff troubles on the defensive end but we just saw RJ in jail against the hawks last summer.

Almost all of those guys minus Herro and Poole are already all stars or pretty much guaranteed to be one in the future. If your bone to pick is with those guys not being critiqued than sure, but I don’t think anyone would trade RJ for them minus MAYBE Herro. I just don’t even get what y’all want here. People don’t think he’s a 1st or probably 2nd best guy on a contender. His shooting splits dipped again and year 3 is pivotal for making that jump. Nobody is given him Knicks specific critique, at all.

Herro , RJ are the two players i would hate to pay from that class.

No they’re not. No one is even for sure saying he’s an all-star. Top 10 ain’t even a realistic option at this point.

Who has more limitations to build your team around?

What does his ranking THEN have to do with today?
