They gon say I'm hating here...but I swear I can't think of a player that has milked more out of 1-2 season(s) than Isaiah Thomas. Maybe Gil?
What did IT2 milk exactly? He played the same amount of years in the league as Jeremy Lin and made half as much  It’s JLin or Gil IMO. Gil made $100MM more so I’m somewhat inclined to same him but he was clearly the better player. Also - if JLin was in like Sacramento, he would have never had the same buzz as he did in NYC so taking that into account, I’m leaning towards him for that situational reason as well.

This not rocket science here. I'm talking about players who have milked the most fame out of a relatively SHORT period of time of being an elite guy. Money doesn't really have anything to do with this. Players who either themselves or fans seem to exaggerate the totality of their careers...when in reality their reign at the top was short like leprechaun. Even Rondo tried to tell people:

There's this idea that the NBA owes him millions for 12 great months of basketball for some reason and that what happened to him is "unfair".

where will there be starting minutes in the league though? Oh and Pritchard is a better fit on that team

A year from now, who knows what the landscape will look like. Whether it's a starting role or a backup, I doubt his next contract will be the same amount as it is right now.

I think Milk is the wrong term here. Also, it wasn't just 1-2 seasons. Check out this tweet from his Kings days:

the guy gave it his all with the Celtics and is paying for it unfortunately.

The IT drop off was probably one of the most distinguishable one I can remember in recent memory.

Can't remember the last time an MVP candidate got cut from a team within 24 months.

My bad, I legitimately didn’t know you meant a fame or perception of being owed perspective. I thought you meant milked said 1-2 seasons for the most money that they actually got paid. I apologize for the confusion.

Carry on.

Haven't seen this graphic in YEARS

Timing and health has to do with everything. IT could’ve gotten an extension. He bet on himself, and He thought he was getting the brinks truck. Unfortunately, got hurt. Played hurt. Got traded. Had an opportunity to show if he still had it.The market cooled on him, once it showed the extent of the injury, and that he wouldn’t be the same player anymore.

Lin signed a deal for an average pg. And that’s what he was for a while. And the poison pill contract.

Gil had 2-3 elite seasons. SECURED the bag. Then got hurt and shenanigans.

Its all about what and WHEN you can secure. Sometimes, betting on yourself works. Other times, you end up like Boogie or It2.

At least the Celtics are cursed now. It’s been disappointment after disappointment since then.

IT just needs to go to China. This obsession with returning to the NBA is messing with his mental health and it kinda shows

Speaking of bag fumblers - Jeremy Lin is on the the complete opposite end of the spectrum. He went from sleeping on a friend’s couch his second season (granted he was making $760K and made $460K the season before in Golden State) to making $64MM over the next 8 seasons. All things considered, he’s one of the more elite finessers of all-time.
Yup and with no offhand at all very rare for a guard at that level

Those excerpts about Kidd hit the Twittersphere back when he got hired.

Thonn said the iPhone story wasn't true when it die.

Personally I didn't want him but if he gets packed up oh well. Luka ain't dealing with any ****ery at all.
Yup.. None of that is new info.

And yeah - definitely wouldn't have been my first choice... But I'm not gonna hold those first two jobs as the gospel when he had no business getting either one of them without ever sitting on a bench prior to it.

Iverson 07-08 to his 09-10 year was a crazy drop off.

I remember the word came in that he had completely lost a step, and I couldn’t believe it. Just watched him average 26 & 7 on 46-35-80 splits on a 50 win team in Denver.
