2020-21 NBA Offseason thread: Officially a wrap

If he had done that same thing on the Thunder every media member would’ve been on KD’s ****.
Bruh would’ve got every commercial and his shoe would’ve been the hottest ****s in the streets.

Instead....

KD never got the undisputed best player in the league crown because he jumped on someone else’s team.
It is what it is. Hell, KD knew it too, why else you think he left?

Let's not forget for a while KD was the anti-Lebron.

"He's being loyal, He don't wanna team up, He loves OKC". KD himself said this and would go at media people that said he was leaving OKC.

The media always creates these storylines but at times dudes help fuel it.

Must be nice to have this in consecutive years before your first title, and then be “considered” the “best” and a top 2 player of all time by 2013 (according to ESPN).

-Lose to Dwight Howard in 2009 - preventing a Kobe/Bron finals
-Lose In the 2nd round in 2010....then “jump to someone else’s team”
-Lose in 2011, with another top 3 player and a top 15 player against Dirk and some role players...and play HISTORICALLY bad, after going up 2-1 as favorites and guaranteeing 8 straight championships
-Finally win against a super young, ahead of schedule but really talented thunder team...and receive all the praise and get that title :lol

KD looking at it like Damn! It’s because he went to THAT team, is the reason he didn’t get “the credit”. And he stood in front of y’all man’s way. It’s ok.

I’m not trying to be petty. But that’s what happened. A 23 year old KD beating the prime Heatles would’ve made that ***** ahead of the curve of any top 5 player of all time.

That’s the bar y’all have for KD. It’s absurd.

I can see how KD felt some type of way. Bron was anointed best player on the world by a lot of people before he ever won anything (prematurely), went and formed a super team in Miami where it wasn't his franchise, eventually did win, did it to a slightly lesser degree in the 2nd stint in CLE; and received the spoils that came along with that. KD just followed the blueprint, upped the ante, but didn't get nearly that same adulation. And it's not like he wasn't worthy of consideration based on his play on the floor which ultimately outside of all the personal feelings and narrative ****; should be the main thing. I mean Kawhi does it for one playoff run and he gets it but KD can't?

🎯

Exactly.

IDK why this perspective hurts a large segment of nba fans to simply acknowledge this: :lol.

Ah man it's really gonna happen isn't it...

It's going to happen.

I feel like - at the time, the Heatles reveal was kind of mixed emotions for basketball fans. Some loved it, some hated it.

Wasn't KD going to Golden State met with a significantly heavier eye roll from the broader audience at that point?

Am I misremembering that?

Who will win the NBA championship?
1. Los Angeles Lakers: 132 points (86% first-place votes)

2. Milwaukee Bucks: 50 points (7% first-place votes)

3. LA Clippers: 30 points (7% first-place votes)

Also receiving votes: Brooklyn Nets, Miami Heat, Boston Celtics, Philadelphia 76ers, Portland Trail Blazers, Dallas Mavericks.

Our panel is anticipating a repeat after the Lakers upgraded their bench and maintained their veteran experience during a surprisingly busy offseason for a defending champion.

With newcomers Harrell and Schroder supplying more shot creation and Gasol and Matthews adding playoff experience, the Lakers look deeper than the group that won the 2020 title at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando, Florida.

They might need to be. After all, the Lakers didn't have to face either of the next two teams in the voting because the Bucks and Clippers were both upset in the conference semifinals. They too are hoping key offseason additions -- Jrue Holiday for Milwaukee, Serge Ibaka for LA -- will get them over the top.

Our forecast isn't as optimistic about those two challengers and also isn't buying the Brooklyn Nets as anything more than a dark horse despite the return of Kevin Durant.

You have your opinion and I have mine.

Kd was up 3-1 and couldn’t deliver.
Then he bounced to the team that he lost 3 straight to.

But who cares anymore. Arguing about Kd is some **** I did 4 years ago. There’s preseason basketball on tonight, no need to have off-season convos anymore.

The Heatles were the most hated team maybe ever when they linked up. Bron went from media darling to HHH type heel stuff the moment he made the decision.

Hope Giannis drops 32/15 this year on his way to a 3rd straight MVP :nthat:

Oh look Bron v. KD for the umpteenth time. The usual suspects in here with the usual takes.

More vitriol against the Heat because LeBron was the "first" to do it and the field was the Lakers and Celtics.

When KD did it, there really was no competition and we had seen LeBron do it previously.

the city was too cheap to fund an arena so the owner took the team and left... kinda wrong he did that especially since the owner he bought the sonics from had an agreement to sell if the team stayed in seattle and the new owner still got the team and left... dont know why seattle just didnt fund the new arena or at least a portion of it

Just to hammer home the point:

KD from 2014-2019
Regular season: 28/7/5 on 51/39/88
Playoffs: 29/8/4 on 48/36/88
League MVP, 2 Finals MVPs, 2 chips, 5 All NBA teams (2 1st selections)

Bron from 2014-2019:
Regular season: 27/8/8 on 53/35/71
Playoffs: 30/9/8 on 51/34/73
1 finals MVP, 1 chip, 6 All NBA teams (5 1st team selections)

He been right there man. It's really unfortunate that he tore his Achilles b/c with Bron being out of sight out of mind with missing the playoffs the first year in LA and that crazy run KD was on in the playoffs, it was finally going to be his crown to have by the masses.
