2019 All Star Black Infrared Air Jordan 6

Where do you prefer the lace lock?

I get why this is considered THE 6 to covet. But personally I’d rather have a good retro of the white/infrared OG colorway. Wish they would just do both in 2019. Sixes never one of my favorites though, and I had the OG black/infra in ‘91. Sitting out this release but hope the shoe comes out looking strong.

First time I ever knew about or liked the white infra 6’s was seeing Sole Supreme rock them in the Jordan heads teaser.

He had the left shoe unlaced and seeing the lace lock at the bottom of the shoe was so fire to me

My list goes like this

-OG shape
-OG Infrared or “deep infrared” (2000)
-durabuck
-3M and raised tongue
-something a lot of people are overlooking.. CUSHIONING. My DMP VI’s are like walking on clouds.. we need good cushioning and comfort back for sure. That would make this shoe incredible.

If they keep the current shape it would be more like the 2000 Retro which I consider trash. But that’s just me. Notice the difference, the Blk/Infrared is the OG and the Olympic is from 2000

Yes the og toebox was more squared, and they tried to replicate that in 2014. But since the ogs had a way softer upper material and a flexible soft midsole that actually made the shoe mold to your feet it looked completely different when worn. We all know the cardboard / brick like materials used on the 14s, which made it look like the shoes were walking around with you, not you with the shoes.

You’ve never seen the OG then, it was boxier in the front not slanted.

I’ve not only seen them, but I’ve owned 3 pairs, including the Infrareds in 91’. The new mold isn’t as boxy as the og at the toe but the overall profile is still closer than the 14’s - from the higher tongue, thicker ankle bubbles, and side angle. If they get the infrared shade right and have 3m with durabuck I’ll be a happy camper.

The Jordan 6 and the Jordan 7 are tied for my favorite Air Jordan of All Time. The color was decent on the 2014 version (people that believe Varsity Red was the original colorway messed up the 2019 version to an extent). The tongue needs to be higher and as said before the shape is along the line of the 2000 retros.

Jimmy 6 didn’t have that wood in the toe box so still excited for these.

All these shape and color post don’t have nearly the effect as the toe box being just the shoes material

I always have a hard time deciding which I like better between the 6 and 7. They are so similar yet so different. I like the color blocking on more of the og 7s I think but black Infrareds are my fav of the bunch.

Generally with the 6, the shape can make or break a colorway. The Jimmy Butler 6 has great shape even though it’s not a strong colorway. Same goes for the Wheat 6. Ankle bumps also are always a plus. 2010 retro+ colorways aren’t the best, but the shape elevates the shoe. 2014 shape was shorter, had less sharp cuts, and ditched the thick ankle bumps.

For the 7, the shape makes or breaks a colorway. The 2011-2014 shape was terrible to me because it lowered the shoe and raised the toe box. The GMP was the only 7 during that time shaped like the 2002-2010 7s. The recent shape makes the Pantone pair look better for example. Some of the new 7s are still inconsistent and have an awkward shape.

The hate for the 2014 is real and it clouds your minds. The closet retro we have gotten to the Original is the 2014 shape wise. My pictures prove it.

100% agreed! The materials and comfort are off but they are the best recreation esthetically to date.

You’re showing the same pic of black infrareds on each post. It kind of looks like the height of the toe box on numerous pairs of OG 91s differ to an extent. But you’re also comparing the infrared and those diffused blues that have two completely different materials that make up the shoe. Every shoe pictured there is a 91 and the toe boxes look to be right between the two you keep posting.

Are you saying the Blues have the same toe box as the OG? And I’m strictly talking shape, not material.

I’m saying those blues toe box is closer to the 91 maroons and sport blues which materials are quite similar. The duraback toe box has always been more rounded except that 2014 one is more pronounced than a lot of the toe boxes you see on 91s. You also have to keep in mind you’re using an official pic from Nike that doesn’t always resemble the final product that hits your hands. It’s not like Nike doesn’t Doctor those official pics at all.

So yea, in essence, materials used could play a part in how the toe box is.

Doesn’t matter the material, many Og pairs had the high toe box. Some had the sleek one. The 2014 on many colorways May looks Like the 1991 at the toe box, but that’s it. The rest of the shape couldn’t be more different

Particularly around the ankle collar, this portion curves more on the 2014 for EVERY GR colorway. 2017 the shape started to change back, that part is sharper now, and the toe box is more streamlined.

That pic kind of shows how much the differ from pair to pair, no?

Sorry, I just don’t see it. Those blue 6s are shaped like the 2000s, No original 6s are like that. As for materials go, OG Infrareds were synthetic. Those Maroon 6s above look either gradeschool or stuffed with paper.

Saw these for sale on Facebook Sz 10 and 11. Tried to find the post again and it’s gone... should have saved all the photos, looked like an early pair of the 2019
