I still believe that the triangle can still work with the right players.

y'all would rather have duncan and robinson as a duo over kobe and shaq and pippen and jordan?
as a duo, nope

Duncan would be the 2nd player drafted if we were just going by individual players.. obviously if shaq had a better work ethic and could keep himself in shape, he easily goes after jordan

maybe even before

is anyone else other than you, CP and mamba siding with anything lakers related on this
did you see me side with it tho. Spurs are Great and so is pop. Better then Phil IMO but it's not a huge advantage.
It's hard to coach superstars. Ask any of the okc coaches.

it doesn't.. you can play zone

triangle worked back then when they had illegal defenses.. so you were forced to play man and cover ground

now they do it through shooters in certain areas, where they make you legit cover that area because of the player and not because of the rules

I don't think it would be as effective in today's game, but it worked as recently as 2009/2010 when those defensive changes were already well in place for a few years.

The personnel definitely matters though. Melo is no Kobe or MJ that's for sure.

I have an extremely simple philosophy on the whole debate.. I don't think phil would have been anywhere near as successful if he was in pops situation

I think pop AT THE VERY LEAST does what phil accomplished

brooks was an idiot.. his time away was big for him.. he actually attended the sloan conference and went and visited other coaches staffs and learned something

it worked because of the talent the lakers had.. people don't give pau the credit he deserves.. and Bynum was solid enough when he was actually there.. ditto the fat kardahians husband

THAT team would still succeed based on the talent.. bynum wouldn't be that important anymore, but dude was always hurt anyways.. odum's versatility would be huge and he probably is the 3rd biggest piece right now

I don't know man. Pop had the luxury of dealing with a bunch of choir boys and robots as his best guys. Trying to handle MJ, Kobe, Shaq, hell even Rodman and Artest is an entirely different animal. Juggling all those egos towards a common goal is a task just as great as the Xs & Os. You have to remember Shaq didn't respect Del Harris who was a decent coach, Phil walks in and commands that from jump with his jewelry. Shaq might have got Pop out the paint early.

As for Pau, people need to stop revising history and look at what he was before he came to LA and the narrative around him.

The think is you don't know that for certain to be so absolute in saying Phil wouldn't have been as successful as Pop with 3 all NBA level players. With all of them pretty much in their primes at the same damn time. /future

pop is like hoodie without the cheating and general shadiness.. also no making out with his daughter.. or supporting president agent orange

look at boris diaw.. dude gets waived by the freakin bobcats.. goes to the spurs and pop got him playing a key role for couple season

and rodman and artest were?

imagine if pop had jordan, who's really going step out of line on THAT team?

also cant imagine pop making the situation worse between kobe and shaq, like phil did with always running to the media making lil remarks or thinking he's giving subtle hints by giving kobe leadership books
