Cano has been pretty solid on defense from the games i have watched, and I have watched damn near all of them :lol

Cano is a well below average defender now... According to the fangraphs metric, he has a negative defensive value.

UZR stats are very volitile year to year, so a 47 game sample is almost meaningless, better off using 2-3 years samples.

Cano is probably average slightly above.

He's one of those no range all arm type fielders who seem kind slow and lumbering but their arm strength makes up for it, like Yunel Escobar.

Agreed

I always think it's pretty telling when a team trades away some of the caliber of Prince. If he's producing at a high level, he's worth that awful contract.

Hate the shift against Albert for the Royals there. And the pitcher went 3 straight pitches by pitching to the outside corner of plate...Doesn't make sense, but it was moot because he struck out anyway.

I'll never understand why batters get pitched away when shifted on. Literally makes 0 sense.

Hoping for them to roll over and get a grounder or a weak pop fly oppo. I believe it's better than throwing in a batters wheelhouse and seeing him hit a blast.

A major league hitter should be able to poke a pitch away against the shift.

You want batters to hit the ball into the shift.

Yes they should but look at the guys who get shifted, they are power guys with minimal speed so hitting oppo isn't ideal for them because they'll still get thrown out. Ortiz will drop a bunt every once in a while but that's about it.

Exactly..u never want to give a hitter a good pitch..and in albrt pujols case..so he could loft it over the left field wall

Springer is cooking after that slow start

McCann had been trying to hit the ball opposite field for the last month and a half, and it was really screwing with his approach.

Dam losing 6-5 after you put up 5 off David Price in the first. Struggle.
Boston enduring a tough losing streak. Peavy squandered a big lead. Victorino, Napoli, and Middlebrooks injuries. Acclimating Stephen Drew. X and JBJ not ready as we thought.
