^We have our 2015 pick, because the league instituted a rule protecting us from ourselves. No team can trade their first round pick in consecutive years. We don't have our 2nd, bc we traded that along w/ our 2016 pick (which Denver could have swapped w/ us bc of the Melo trade) for Bargnani.
I have no problem tanking, but I honestly feel sorry for Amare. I can't imagine going through all that rehab for years just to risk your long-term health and knees for an effortless 5 win team. And at some point some blame has to go to Fisher. Besides Larkin and Cole, nobody on this team even tries to guard anybody.
We have some decent role/depth players w/ Larkin, Hardaway, Acy, Cole and Smith, but besides Melo, I don't think anyone on this team would be starting for a contender, maybe Calderon. If we want to ever have a competitive team while we have Melo, we basically need 2 more all-star level players, and our only hope is to get one through the draft this year, and one in free agency at some point, not even necessarily this year. I'm not sure I'd break the bank on a B+ level guy like Greg Monroe just bc we have the cap room to get him this summer. Besides getting lucky through the draft and FA, our only other chance to get a starter is to move Shump
