Hurd1 is he goods man, always alls forward and he's a legit power back. Good blocker and pass catcher as well. I don't know how his toughness is questioned...

[h1]No. 2 safety Deontay Anderson releases Top 5[/h1]
Deontay Anderson, the No. 39-ranked prospect in the Class of 2016, is narrowing his focus headed into the 2015 season.

The nations No. 2-ranked safety seriously considered many of the 50 offers he has received throughout the process -- which included unofficial visits to many of the nation's top programs in recent months -- before identifying a Top 5.
 
On Sunday, the 2016 Under Armour All-America Game selection released his Top 5 in alphabetical order to RecruitingNation and talked about each school.

LSU: It's DBU. I talk to Coach Raymond every day. I've built a great relationship with Coach Raymond, and Coach Miles too. It's closer to home. I could end up there.

Ole Miss: I love how the people around the program are so genuine. Coach Freeze is a great coach and one of the best in college football, and he has a plan for his athletes. It feels like you can be successful at Ole Miss.

Texas A&M: A lot of people have thought that's where I would go. They have been in the running for a while. It's close to home, and a good fit. It’s a great school.

Texas: I love Coach Strong. My mom loves Coach Strong. I like Coach Vaughn and Coach Bedford too, but I love Coach Strong. He’s turning it around at Texas.

USC: I really wasn't sold on USC at first, but the defensive backs coach [Keith Hayward] came to my school twice and I came around. The head coach [Steve Sarkisian] also came by the school in December.

While Anderson's decision will likely come down to one of those five schools, Georgia, Florida and Mississippi State remain under consideration.

Up next for Anderson will be scheduling official visits, a process that is already underway.

“I’m going to be scheduling official visits to my Top 5," he said. "I'm scheduling USC right now, probably for when they play Stanford. I’ve also got to call Coach Strong and schedule a visit during the season. I will probably take Texas A&M, LSU and Ole Miss after the season.”

Anderson plans to announce his commitment either at the Under Armour All-America Game, or on national signing day.

The Houston-area star plays on a Manvel High team that boasts 11 FBS prospects in the 2016 class, including TCU verbals Austin Myers and D'Eriq King and Florida quarterback verbal Kyle Trask.

I don't know that he's made his mind up at all yet but it's def going to be one of the two Texas schools or Ole Miss. I am slightly interested in what it is Sark said to him on the visit that inexplicably took USC from out of consideration and into the top 5

He told them they're going to stop the drought against UCLA this year.

UCLA is a top 1-10 college hoops program ever. I think the fact they can succeed so greatly in basketball, other sports like water polo, and are one of the most recognizable University brands worldwide is a serious indictment on the performance of their football team historically. But I've heard many people say a lot of that is also tied to the administration not wanting the football team to be a main focus or succeed, because of what it requires and breeds.

UCLA is a top 1-10 college hoops program ever. I think the fact they can succeed so greatly in basketball, other sports like water polo, and are one of the most recognizable University brands worldwide is a serious indictment on the performance of their football team historically. But I've heard many people say a lot of that is also tied to the administration not wanting the football team to be a main focus or succeed, because of what it requires and breeds.

Which is unfortunate, given the money generator that football is. I blame a part of it on the idolatry of John Wooden. One of the greatest basketball coaches ever, certainly, but why should UCLA administration bow down to being a one sport school when it's easily capable of supporting both revenue sports? Part of it I think is the alumni base that was raised on being a basketball school first and football second.

I think that has permanently changed, though. Our values as a school have shifted towards football more and it's for the better.
