Any thoughts or rumours on what OKC will do to improve their bench
My money is on not a cot damn thing :lol They really tricked off this draft. Thabo and Bertille will be gone in free agency (and he sucked this yr, so even if they do retain him just because he played his value down to an affordable price) so that leaves the starting gig open and Brooks has shown a lack of trust in Lamb there particularly because of his defensive woes. We desperately need perimeter shooting, desperately. So KJ McDaniels and CJ Wilcox and Rodney Hood all could have been had when we took McGary, who most had pegged as a second round selection at 21, when he could have been had at 29, then at 29 2 of those guys are still there and we draft Josh Whoisdis. I know who he is, another Thabo 1 sided player at best right now. Oh, and didn't we draft the same player last yr too, Andre Roberson?

We have a TPE we could fit a ~7m salary into from the Kevin Martin trade and about 5m under the tax. We can waive Sheem's unguaranteed contract to create a roster spot and a few ms. Still, we have never gotten an impact free agent in the summer (only Derek Fisher) and are also notorious for just letting tpe's expire. They claim they'll go into the tax "at some point," but I doubt it. So that's why you should have tried to address those needs in the draft, because those guys have to come here. Right now we are pursing CJ Miles hard, but if it comes down to OKC vs San Antonio or Miami for less than market value, those cities always win.

We'll probably sign like a Nolan Smith, Royal Ivey, type signing again and call it a day. KD and Russ just carry us 2 on 5 again this season

I mean we do go after guys in the offseason like Mike Millers and them, we just waste their time by offering them lowball contract and taking them to the OKC Bombing Museum on a recruiting date. I'm sure we're on the phone with Parson's agent offering half the MLE right now

why does Atlanta do this? :x

i honestly didnt know Salmons was still in the league :{

We're not too far away from Masai trading Landry Fields for a first rounder. I can feel it.

Salmons is 7.5m/2 yrs

Lou is 5.2m/2 yrs

Da hell is Ferry thinking?

Salmons has a valuable contract, because his $7M is a team option for 2014-'14 season. He gives Hawks further ability to clear space.

Hawks are looking to be players in 2014 Free Agency. Bebe coming over and Lou doesn't help that.

Only $1 million of Salmons' $7 million is guaranteed if he is waived by tomorrow, which he will be.

And unfortunately, the ACL tear robbed Williams of his explosiveness. So he's kind of useless now.

Ferry has made his first mistake
I assume Salmons is cut right after the trade to free up space.
Why would u include a young asset in a salary dump? Lou ain't gettin paid that much. In the grand scheme of things his salary is virtually inconsequential.

Who the hell are u trying to sign with that space so bad? Ain't nobody coming to Atlanta, was no reason to throw the Brazilian in that trade. The boy is 21 and 7 feet tall. U hold on to that, at least for something better than a salary dump.

gotcha. didn't know it was TO. Hmm who are they clearing cap room for though?

Great trade picking up Bebe. This kid has some talent. Runs the floor well, finishes around the rim, high energy defender, should be a solid role player.

Deng would be a decent pick up for ATL.

Sources: Melo to meet with Bulls first

Carmelo Anthony is planning to meet with the Chicago Bulls in Chicago on the opening day of free agency after the NBA's offseason market officially opens Tuesday at 12:01 a.m., according to sources familiar with Anthony's plans.

Sources told ESPN.com that Anthony is in the process of arranging a trip to Chicago to meet with the Bulls, then intends to travel to Texas for Wednesday meetings with both the Houston Rockets and the Dallas Mavericks.

Sources say Anthony is likely to visit the Rockets first on Wednesday, followed by the Mavericks in the afternoon.

Carmelo Anthony will have his hands full as he plans trips to Chicago, Houston, Dallas and Los Angeles to kick off free agency, according to sources.

Anthony, who maintains an offseason home in Los Angeles, is also expected to meet with the Los Angeles Lakers face-to-face next week.

But ESPN.com reported Saturday that the New York Knicks, despite the fact that Anthony is about to be courted hard by the aforementioned suitors, are nonetheless increasingly optimistic about their chances of re-signing Anthony, stemming at least in part from what one source describes as the way new Knicks president Phil Jackson has "connected" with Anthony.

One source close to the process told ESPN.com's Ramona Shelburne that Jackson is planning to make a determined attempt to try to recruit his former Lakers center Pau Gasol to replace the freshly traded Tyson Chandler alongside Anthony on the Knicks' front line, despite the fact New York is limited to offering Gasol less than $4 million for next season.

Sources told ESPN.com this week that the Knicks swung their trade with the Mavericks to send out Chandler and the out-of-favor Raymond Felton to bring back a clutch of veterans in return -- headlined by point guard Jose Calderon -- in their belief that Anthony would relish the prospect of playing with the Spaniard. Calderon has been a perimeter threat and a beloved teammate everywhere he's played.

Sources insist that the Knicks feel far better about their chances than Jackson is letting on. No team can match the five years and $129 million that New York can provide if it wishes to offer a maximum contract to Anthony, and while Anthony is undoubtedly intrigued by the chance to team with Derrick Rose, Joakim Noah and coach Tom Thibodeau in Chicago, he also still loves the Madison Square Garden stage dearly.

Anthony also said in an interview in early June that he would be hesitant to uproot his family -- 7-year-old son Kiyan in particular -- from New York to another city.
