now that bosh and wade opted out...riley should go in a different direction with them off the books. **** loyalty. it wasnt like you played for them out of the goodness of your heart, they paid you chumps. Wasn't like you were doing volunteer work. It's just business, never personal. Go grab lowery and melo, grab some of those vets, couple 3 pt shooters for bron to swing to and call it a day.

That's what I would do.
And this is always why a player should take the Max instead of a paycut, because you can be done like this once you've served your purpose. Get paid while you can, win later

i mean it's there fault they opted out, so if it burns them, so be it. miami doesn't owe them ****. I can see Pat doing some snake ****. And/or offering them contracts for pennies on the dollar with that take it or leave it steeze

Not a smart business move to screw over guys who were going to take a paycut for you, and already did.

Agents have long memories, as do players.

I know we ******** around but I hope y'all not serious with this line of thinking

essential1 essential1 LOL, the owners hands are tied though, because of the cap they have so , it's easy to screw Wase over at this point and blame the cap, that's not good or bad business, it is what it is. Wade probably gonna retire and hit the pulpit. Only reason I can think he's leave that money on the table, he's headed to the pulpit and maybe a front office job with some bonuses for opting out

Edit: you heard it here first

No it's REALLY bad business..

Can't blame it on the cap... Because he opted out for you, to make things easier for you, with an obvious guarantee from you. Considering who he is, what he is, and what he's done for that team... Would be a move to go back on your word. Would be entirely different if his contract ended and you won't bring him back, this is a personal guarantee.

If I was an owner, I can't say I wouldn't be tempted to tell Wade to hit the bricks after he opted out, but I'd give him a desk and a day job for severance

You guys really considering it screwing them, and not just smart business? If wade doesn't help the objective, why continue to pay him? based on past performance? But you payed him while he was performing..? Bring him back for the vet min. Let bosh walk, or vet min. Why continue to over pay for washed up players? Loyalty? That's a bad business decision. They teach you in the first business class you take that business has no feelings of nostalgia. Sure, Wade and Bosh said they'll take cuts, but tell me you don't think they still have a mental idea of the minimum they'll take, which is also more than they're worth at this point. Wade's definition of paycut is probably 15-17

essential1 essential1 They didn't go back on their word though, a Wade opted out. Now maybe they've had some back door talks, I don't non or care. But you can't say they went back on their word because they are or did give him the option to stay and get paid, he opted out. They Jedi mind tricked him perhaps. Time will tell.

At the end of the day, if you want to salary cap me, I'm taking what I can when I can where I can, when the league suffers for this, and they may eventually when the kids start seeing dollars first TEAM second, maybe things will change. In the meantime, pay me

Do you think Wade or Bosh opted out of $42mil guaranteed, without Riley's word to give them a new contract to get their money back?

Also if Wade, Bosh & LeBron are great friends, and you screw Wade over..... Don't you think it is possible that LeBron says screw this, you went back on your word... I'm out.

You don't think in that same scenario Bron can still walk though? Whether they sign his boys or not? You don't think Bron wouldn't have walked even if Wade and Bosh opted in?

And if that were the case, no free agent ever would deal with Riley :lol

It's just sleazy fam, you know what it is dont try to justify it :lol

I can't stand the Heat and it would be funny as hell if it happened.

But it would still be a dirtbag move tho, and the backlash would be immense and the Heat would be under a ton of pressure.

Besides who knows how Lebroni would survive without his buddy to hold his hand :lol

What a scumbag JKIDD is. Always was.

And the fact he would do this and then hide in an office so he can't come back to Brooklyn to be booed out the building. Catered to him like they did in Jersey. Pat Riley move to say the least/

And if that were the case, no free agent ever would deal with Riley :lol

It's why it's bad business.

Sure maybe Riley convinces them to play for cheap, and maybe they don't get all of their money back (Wade at least)..

But to basically force their hand to opt out with the safety that you will pay them (albeit less, but their spot is still safe) and just say deuces to them... Sends a huge message to a lot of people that you don't want, the least of which is LeBron. Who will look really bad if that happens.

Kidd came into coaching a year too early.

He saw the money and security Kerr, Blatt, SVG, Fisher got and was like "****" might as well ask for more power.

Edit:

Some dude on RealGM posted this story Thursday. Now he's saying the Nets are contacting Mark Jackson. Link.

:eek

They didn't belive him on the Nets forum then **** hits the fa, he reply's with this:

I told you guys the truth, but you didn't believe. I told you that I know people that actually work in the Nets organization unlike that fraud Broussard.

:eek :lol :hat

LOL @ y'all thinking Riley telling wade it's all good, then stiffing him in free agency is a good business decision. "Let's publicly shame, humiliate, and screw over the face of our franchise over the last 10 years."

It's not good business, it's just business.
Who said it was "good business" ?

freeze freeze you say it was "good business" ?

Cause I didn't. But if it happened, the World would keep on moving

Kidd is being true to himself and keeping up with his **** head ways...but if this works out, he definitely made the right move.

NBA head coaching landscape is vastly different now than it was around this time last year when he got hired. Even though it's only been one season, he knows he's in a tenuous situation with no real job security, Billy King is a ******* idiot, and there's rumors the Big Russian is growing restless with his product.

He went in demanding knowing he had Milwaukee in his back pocket since he's good friends with their owner. Nets said no and if he ends up making that transition...he's going to a team with a brighter future in a more secure job and probably making a lot more money. Somewhere on par with the JVG and Flip Saunders of the league.

I can't really respect it but it's a classic power move. He's always been able to see **** before it happens so this ain't really different from his playing days.

******* New Jersey Nets though.

yea I don't think I put a positive adjective on it at all, I just said it's just business. It happens all of the time in corporate america.

You guys really think Micky Arison cares about Wade like that? I mean realistically.

Also the Nets are discussing the coaching job with Mark Jackson, nothing official yet.

yeah not it wouldn't

agents would black ball you, you wont get another major free agent for a long time untill the stink wore off. The ramifications would be immense and unpleasant.

Enough with the JKidd hate.My dude is a young Frank Underwood.. power plays :hat

By any means necessary
