*deep sigh*

If we had just chosen Shaq over Kobe this wouldn't be a problem...

Kidding... kind of.

We would have become a **** hole much sooner.
We were... pretty bad, pretty much as soon as Shaq dipped.

Don't know how much sooner you can get.

Direction versus without one.

Also we were not that bad when he left. One season out of the playoffs. Simply because Shaq was only worth a lot of role players by 2004.

And I'll rephrase it to your liking. We would have been a prolong **** hole for a long period of time.

No, I agree w/ you both.

The vitriol between the 2 meant something HAD to be done.

It's just, the way I look at life there weren't JUST 2 options.

There were quite a few, and the only one we don't have to speculate on is the "Trade Shaq to the Heat, acquire Gasol" option.

There are some options I suspect would have been fine, some I think could have yielded better results, and some that I think could have been much worse ("Screw it, let them both go. Build around Atkins." :lol )

One I will always wonder about is the 07 Pistons deal for Kobe.

We would have had a lot of assets at that point. I went in detail in last year's thread, but Amir, Marc Gasol, Bynum, LO, Farmar, Ariza, Rip, Prince, extra first round pick from Det, plus our own (potentially very nice) plus keeping the ones we gave Memphis.

Man, not a title team there, but a lot of movable pieces, cheap contracts, draft chips, youth......could have been really interesting.

Oh well. We did alright.

Lakers officially choose not to stretch out Steve Nash's salary
The deadline for the Lakers to use the "stretch" provision on Steve Nash passed over the weekend.

The 40-year-old point guard is heading into his third year with the team, earning $9.7 million for the 2014-15 season.

Had the Lakers waived Nash prior to September, they would have been able to stretch his salary over the next three years at around $3.2 million annually.

TMac worked out with Kobe multiple times this month. Sign him and we guaranteed to lose in the first round

On a serious note, prime TMac and Kobe. (No Shaq), how many rings we talking?

Unlikely any.

But would depend on the big man that's on the team.

TMac + Kobe in their early 20's would have been better than Bron/Wade, without a doubt.

But like E said, depends on who they'd have down low defensively.

They wouldn't work, both need the ball in there hands at all times.

The Lakers vs Magic game in 2003 when Kobe went off in the 2nd half was amazing

The question is what he has left in that tank of his you speak of ....he ain't gone be useful for ****! And we all kno it!

Ugh! I hate Steve Nash with a passion. He's just a waste ...wasting time ,wasting money ,wasting a roster spot, wasting young player development.
He's like a pet you used to love that's way too old clinging to life ...like man I have a lot of feelings for ya, remember the old times but ...time to let it go...

comparing steve nash to a lifelong companion who you loved and loved you back with undeniable loyalty...

its not that srs.

Maybe Nash can teach Randle some tricks about pick-and-rolls? That's all I need from him this year.
