Yes and No

The problem with taking Boozer is that it would have prevented keeping Nick Young & Jordan Hill. Who were both kept because are fan favorites, and easy trade bait. And even if they could keep Young & Hill, couldn't get someone else if they had Boozer. Currently Lakers have the ability to get someone anywhere between $6mil-10mil depending on how they maneuver the cap, including a stretch of Nash.

The picks part, no because that would have gotten them to take on Mike Dunlevy Jr. who they could have traded later for picks, and would have little impact to them. Without picks it served little incentive, when they can go out and get someone else that they want for cheap.

Thanks for the detail; this makes total sense from the Lakers perspective.

Extra part for the picks. There were picks involved, but only when there was a third team, who presumably sent picks to Chicago and Chicago sends picks to LA, but when the third team (Houston) pulled out, Chicago wouldn't offer picks with a player.

Mitch has been the stall every single time it came to trading Pau. He wanted too much from Cleveland, too much from Phoenix, too much from Chicago apparently, he flat out wouldn't sell the guy off when it was clear Pau wanted to go.

It's not the first time Mitch has stalled out trades with guys we have no use for. And it certainly will be overlooked by our fanbase that he swore he was keeping Pau at the deadline so we could benefit from having his bird rights and sign and trade flexibility in the offseason.

Lo and behold........ :{

Yeah, I've had the same feelings with our FO especially when they preach flexibility but have also shown a history of overvaluing role players and selling low.

I was surprised we got Pau for basically nothing. It's an ironic "nothing" because it actually limited us but we were fortunate to have signed Mirotic afterwards.

There needs to be an immediate lockout if Wes Johnson gets anything more than the minimum.

Nothing on both fronts.

Wes could conceivably get the BAE from another team, but haven't hear of any interest.

X as long as Lakers want him, he'll be back. Give him a guaranteed minimum deal, and he's ours.
X has been working out in the Lakers facilty all summer, signs that he'd like to be back.

x and wes back would be nice, we gotta play someone at the 3....

I like them both, more so X. But I'm afraid our lack of bigs will lead to us letting them go in favor of size, our only bigs are Hill, Randle, Sacre, and Kells lol

Can't wait to see more of him this coming season. Hopefully our rookies would flourish. :hat

His random, quick, off balance shots and the way he plays scared sometimes is frustrating, but his length and athleticism with the cheap contract is enticing, those weak side blocks and threes can help a team

I know this is a lakers thread but watch this entire video...you might be a little surprised who made an appearance... It's a great video regardless

Kobe better get something like that.

Mitch needs to give Clarkson one of those Parsons or Stephenson rookie deals. A non-guaranteed contract for four years while being paid dirt cheap.

And then not Morey it by letting him out at just over a million and losing him for nothing. :lol

Am I the only one who thinks Kobe isn't done after these last 2 years? I think him missing last year added more time.

Sources: Nation's top high school guard likely to play overseas

The nation's No. 1 high school guard, Southern Methodist University signee Emmanuel Mudiay of Dallas, will likely hire an agent and take a job playing basketball overseas next season, sources told Yahoo Sports.

SMU coach Larry Brown told associates within the basketball industry Monday that he expects Mudiay to leave the university, sources told Yahoo Sports, and the coach is working to fill Mudiay's scholarship spot with a transfer guard.

Mudiay, an explosive 6-foot-5 guard, has been projected as a lottery pick in the 2015 NBA draft. The Chinese Basketball Association has been discussed as a possible destination for Mudiay, a native of the Congo.

Mudiay had conversations with Brown and university officials about his ability to become academically eligible to play his freshman year, sources told Yahoo Sports. Mudiay wanted to play for the Hall of Fame coach at his hometown school, but there were concerns about the NCAA clearing him to play for the 2014-15 season, sources said.

Mudiay attended Prime Prep Academy in Dallas.

Representatives of Mudiay have reached out to prospective agents and shoe companies about possible partnerships with the prospect, sources said. Mudiay was born in Zaire and escaped war-torn Congo before settling in the United States with his family.
