they dont take them down for the grammy's, why would they do that? its not like banners at the far top end of a stadium will distract people from the show. why are the clippers the only people who do this? most teams share their arenas with other teams and i dont see anyone else crying that they dont have any accomplishments and covering up what others have earned

How many sports franchises share arenas within the same sport all I can think of is the jets/giants and the jets took down the giants accomplishments when they played each other since it was a jets home game .

Rose need more helps though. Lou Deng is inconsistent and Boozer sucks. Defense can help win championship but you also need a whole lot of firepower on offense.

I don't see anything wrong with Clippers covering up Lakers banner. Technically speaking the Lakers do not own Staple center and beside it's Clipper home game. Why does Clippers fan need to see Lakers banners? lol :lol
Bulls have elite defense though and butler is cool. Snell dunleavy or someone will emerge as a surprise.

Amazed that you aren't bitter about the clippers. Point for you

No. Actually it's nothing like that. It's a CLIPPERS home game. It's technically the clippers building. Lakers have NOTHING to do with a clipper home game so why display their banners? For that night, it's the clippers home and you do what you want in your home. You clowns are acting like they're taking them down forever. Lakers are my favorite team and even I'm glad the clips are having some pride in themselves.

I don't know if they take them down during other non basketball events or not, I'm thinking they take them down for the grammy's. I guess you dudes think that's disrespectful too huh.
Thank you

The giants and jets do same thing

Name me two other teams that share a building that are in the same division of the same conference of the same league. I'll wait.

And, according to the Clippers local broadcast last night, putting up the big player banners was Doc's idea. He wants it so that when people come to a Clippers home game, they're getting a %100 Clippers experience in the arena. Makes perfect sense to me.
LA Galaxy and Chivas USA!!!!!

But to be fair Chivas is looking for a new home now.

Aaand whaaaaaat, you mean to tell me the Clippers are trying to differentiate themselves from the Lakers. That is so wrong.

Because when I go to a Clippers game, I know I want to just check out all the Lakers stuff at the Staples Center.

Seriously though, if I want to go to a Clippers game I plan and go to a clippers game. And if I want to see the Lakers play, I'll go to their games.
Carmelo Anthony hints that free agent decision will come down between Lakers and Knicks

The All-Star small forward said that he wants to finish his career with the Knicks, but added that he wants NBA teams, namely the Lakers, to chase him when free agency opens this summer.
Comments (84)
BY FRANK ISOLA  / NEW YORK DAILY NEWS
[h5]PUBLISHED: THURSDAY, OCTOBER 17, 2013, 1:13 PM[/h5][h5]UPDATED: FRIDAY, OCTOBER 18, 2013, 9:34 AM[/h5]
ELISE AMENDOLA/AP

Carmelo Anthony can make more money — about $33 million more — with the Knicks, but his best chance at winning a title may come outside of New York.
BALTIMORE — Carmelo Anthony reiterated that he wants it all: He wants to be a Knick for life, yet he also wants NBA teams — the Lakers, really — to court him when he becomes a free agent on July 1.

The Melo-drama Part II is under way in the wake of Anthony confirming that he plans to opt out of his contract next summer and become an unrestricted free agent for the first time in his career. And for the first time, Anthony hinted that it is a two-team race between the Knicks and Lakers.

When asked about the long-held belief that the Lakers would pursue him, Anthony said: “What other team would they say? I don’t think they would say any other team. If you look at situations, that’s the only team that they probably would say.”

The Lakers will have cap space, and Anthony is close to Kobe Bryant. Also, Anthony owns a home in Los Angeles, and his wife, La La, is a working actress in Hollywood. Needless to say, if Anthony leaves the Knicks, it won’t be for a small market team.
NOAH GRAHAM/NBAE/GETTY IMAGES

Carmelo Anthony’s ties to Kobe Bryant make the Lakers a logical free agency destination.
“I’m in New York,” he said on Thursday. “Like I said, this is not something that I want to keep going on. At the end of the day, I don’t want to go anywhere, I don’t plan on going anywhere. But when that time comes, I’ll deal with that situation.”

Mike Woodson is confident that Anthony will re-sign, saying “I don’t see him leaving. That’s just my thought.” Woodson, however, did admit that the free agent landscape has changed in recent years with high-profile players forming alliances with other All-Stars. LeBron James left Cleveland to join Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh in Miami.

The most stunning example was Dwight Howard bucking conventional wisdom and leaving the Lakers in order to sign with the Houston Rockets in July.
MARK BONIFACIO/NEW YORK DAILY NEWS

Carmelo Anthony says he doesn’t ‘sit back and ponder’ his free agency every day.
“It’s different,” Woodson said. “The Lakers franchise is totally different from any other franchise, them and the Celtics based on history, what they’ve done. Hell if I was a Laker I don’t know if I would ever have left the Lakers because of what they’d done over the years.

“It has changed. Players are always looking for something better. That’s just signs of the times. It’s different. It’s what it is, but hey everybody, Melo, if he’s going to test it, he’s got to test it. That’s on him. But at this point he’s got to worry about this season and this season only because that’s what’s staring him in the face.”

The Knicks can offer Anthony an extension in February but by waiting until July 1, Anthony would be in position to receive a more lucrative deal. Also, by re-signing with the Knicks, Anthony could earn in excess of $33 million more than any other team can offer.

Yet Anthony is keeping his options open and giving himself wiggle room in case the Knicks bottom out this season. Ultimately, Anthony may have to decide between taking less money to improve his chances of winning an NBA title. That’s another reason why Anthony intends to become a free agent next summer.

“I’ve never had before,” Anthony said of being a free agent. “And I think as a player, guys would like to explore that. Guys would like to have that situation and just see what it’s about. It doesn’t mean that just because somebody wants to be that that they’re going to leave. Me leaving would never come across in my mind. It was just an experience that I thought would be an experience I’d want to experience.

“This is not something that I’m thinking about or I sit back and ponder on every day. When that time comes I’ll deal with it.”

You bring it on yourselves though. Don't think anyone cares about a trash laker team. It's when some of you show your arrogance that things start to pop off. They're banners bro, get over it and move on with your life

Only teams that should want Melo are ones that already have either a good team already of a young player that can be elite in the future. Melo as your best player gets you nothing, he's as good of a scorer as you can find but he's defense is bad, he's a terrible passer and he's ineffecient

the hell you talking about, the whole reason teams play every season is to be able to put a banner up. ask a celtics or spurs fan if they think that they're "just banners". if you dont see the meaning behind it rather than thinking its just a piece of cloth then you're missing the point.

willing to bet my SN or cash that this trash lakers team will win a title before the flippers

You didn't understand what I was saying. Banners to a laker home game are awesome they should be proud. At a clipper home game they're nothing more than another teams banners, covering them isn't a big deal. The fact that you as a fan are so invested in this is what I was saying is so sad and embarrassing.

to me its pretty selfish, this is the city's arena. if you go to chicago you can look up and see hockey banners and basketball banners, same with MSG, its part of the city's and arena's history. the fact that you have to cover it up because you're sad that your sorry franchise hasn't even retired a jersey in its 40 years is sad and embarrassing. how is being an invested fan a bad thing?

Who cares about banners? Cry about that in the Laker thread, lets talk basketball in here please

Damn boy I never seen a fan base get so hype off of a player balling in the preseason. Smh bulls fans getting there hopes up for nothing just to have em crushed down in the playoffs then they'll start the blame game again with refs and flopping was the cause for losing. Just calling it how I see it

:lol at Melo flipping the script on the Knicks three years later.

He'll re-up with them next summer, but it's funny nonetheless.

Chicago doesn't have two basketball teams. Being invested to the point where you come off as arrogant and sensitive is when it becomes a bad thing

Bulls will lose in the playoffs mainly because Thibs will run his players into the ground. Gotta make sure you win a game in February against Milwaukee.

Dont blame thibs, Bulls just dont have enough reliable scoring options like indy, bk, mia when playoff time come
