Kobe aint tryna win another ring... He wouldn't have taken that contract if he did.

Random thing I noticed today... KG has been in the L 1995... since before Pac died...

Dude been playing since I was in diapers :eek

Old as dirt b.

The thing with Jrue's All-Star selection was he was taking up A LOT of possessions to get his numbers. It sounds trivial because so do other All-Stars, but in his case it was really apparent. So he could be argued as one of those "Empty stats" guys.

Okay even with that said they picked up a Very Good PG who's only 21... has size, atleticism, can guard two positions and can score. For a player who has yet to play a game in the NBA and who's only good skill coming out of college was shot blocking. If they somehow found themselves with a top 5 pick this year then great. If Not i don't see any other PG in the draft even being able to assure that they will reach Jrue holidays level as of now & on top of it they may only be a year or two younger.

all i'm saying is that people are acting as if this was some sort of ridiculous deal. NO knows how special AD is gonna be and realistically by next year he should have a team contending for a playoff spot. I will always choose young players who are proven> potential.

hey kobe, heres a big fat contract you can't refuse

oh, you want to win? like right now? well, we kind of gave you too much money

If there was no salary cap I wonder how much Kobe/Lebron level players would make a year? 30+?

I'm pretty positive Lebron would have been offered 5 years, 300 million from the Knicks without a salary cap :lol

Man I'd love to see how much Prok would throw out there without a salary cap

KD on that 7 year 560 million :hat

This also.

Lots of productive talk today. I like it.
You just jinxed it bruh.....

Kobe/Jordan argument coming soon

lebron/kobe arguments >>> jordan/kobe arguments

Those who complain about the Kobe contract do not understand how much revenue Kobe brings the Lakers

Or those who complain acknowledge the thing known as "the salary cap" and the other thing known as "35 year old Kobe Bryan'ts health after injury"

also agree with this,

but in a salary cap league, where his contract crippled the cap of the lakers, its an awful contract.

Agreed in regards to the cap. LA just took care of him and after all he's done he deserves it. The only folks mad at Kobe's deal are Lakers fans. I wish we could win just 1 damn title in DC and people mad at Kobe's contract after getting y'all 5? Having a constant contender...must be nice.

I tried to explain this before but people just wanna see it in salary cap terms in which it is a bad contract

People have to realize that in a owner's mind business over> not winning a championship for two seasons

The Lakers will have a completely clear salary cap in two years assuming they don;t bring anyone in this summer.

as far as the contract.... answer me this did anybody think that LA with a healthy Kobe this year was gonna be more than a 7-8 seed?

now check ask yourself why a borderline playoff team has as many nationally televised games as the Heat or Thunder.... the answer is Kobe Bryant. Those TV deals and not to mention the amount of money they will be milking out of the L once Kobe retires is why they made that deal. People never complain when the team is 30 mil above the salary cap and winning.... well the only reason that can be done is because LA is bringing in 3 billion dollar TV deals.... and a huge part of that is because they have Kobe Bryant.

Good luck signing that deal telling your partners are main attraction is swaggy P and hopefully bringing in K.Love or Marc Gasol

Pretty much. I don't think there's a single person on this board who doesn't recognize what Kobe has done for the Lakers both on and off the court. But there's also a good number of people who realize how crippling that contract is, regardless if he deserves it.

Where's the Blazers fans at on here? Y'all ready to get revenge for that twitter beef vs the Wizards Thursday? I bet the Blazers will think twice before talking about the East again. Lol

Btw anyone going to the Lillard/Wall Adidas event out there tomorrow?

a two year contract that still allows you to remain a playoff team isn't crippling though... Joe Johnson is crippling, Gilbert arenas crippling, Rashard Lewis crippling,... Kobe's contract is a two year stop gap in which they have planned there cap around and as of today will have a FULL salary cap. You guys are acting as if they traded away all their picks and signed him to a 5 year deal.
