Yeah, Kobe lost the right to ***** and moan about the Lakers moving forward when he signed that contract. Fool tweeted how smart Mitch and Jim were immediately after signing the extension, now he's calling them out in his pressers.

How Kobe gon' say he has no patience for the front office and says that this type of season can't happen next season, but signs a huge *** deal, crippling their ability to get better :lol :rolleyes

Rooting for Kobe though and I do think he'll be at 25 ppg next year *shrugs*

Cause Kobe deserves that money for what he's done for the Lakers in his career, they should pay him until he dies if they actually want to compensate him for his value.

He shouldn't have to take less than he deserves because that FO can't make the proper moves.

Is he a max level talent anymore? Idk we'll see

But is he worth that much to the Lakers brand? Easily

Yeah some guys just don't help teams win games or make them better. Rudy Gay appears to be one of those guys.

He should be playing on Philly's squad right now. He would fit their agenda.

But Rudy Gay is new and improved, right? I think I heard that after every game for a week after that trade.

soooooo what exactly happened last night? ive been in a coma since that beating SA dropped on the bulls

Rudy Gay had been dope since that trade :hat

One of the few trades you could say was win-win for both teams involved

While what you're saying makes sense, you can't cripple a guy to try and pay him what he's "owed" based on what he's done.

You're agenda isn't geared towards Kobe, it's geared towards the Lakers. No matter what Kobe has done and brought to the Lakers, the Lakers will always be bigger than Kobe. He isn't bigger than the LAL, no matter what.

So with that, the agenda should be not to compensate Kobe, (no matter how great he's been for the organization) but to put the best product on the floor that represents the Laker franchise, and you can't do that paying a guy that much money, especially when he's injured at the moment. Period.

In theory, you can't actually pay Kobe, (or lebron, Kd, etc.) what they're worth to their franchises anyway.

But the end goal is always to have the best product possible on the floor. Always. The franchise is always bigger than it's players that play for it. The franchise then, should always be thinking about how to best improve the product. In the Lakers case, clearly paying one player that much money does not help the team, it does the complete opposite. If Kobe was healthy, it still would be a stupid thing to do due to his age, among other things.

So I guess, for me, I just don't know how the Lakers, in conjunction with Kobe, don't discuss a better deal that allows for both parties to be satisfied, and more importantly allow for the Lakers to work towards being a contender again. Kobe's at the end of his career, he doesn't need some big time contract. If Kobe's really about winning, (which I am not saying he isnt) I would have just assumed he wouldn't have taken such a large deal.

It's not that simple though, Kobe has been the Laker brand for the last 10 years, has generated 100's of million in revenue and is the reason they got a billion dollar TV and licensing deal. During that period people didn't pay those crazy prices to see the Lakers, they paid to see Kobe. Also until the Achillies, Kobe was playing up to that contract without a doubt.

Kobe's contract isn't the problem, the Lakers have made a ton more bad moves like putting all there eggs in the basket with Dwight and not trading him, not hiring Phil, giving up picks to sign Nash, letting Jim Buss run the team etc

well that Kobe contract ain't helping them either, that's another bad move you could have included, except for the fail Phil Jackson hiring, he left the team when they were going downhill. The only reason why he was interested in returning was because the Lakers got Dwight Howard. He ain't loyal.

Just like the Cavs situation with Lebron James in 2010, the Lakers had no idea what Dwight Howard was planning on doing.

20/20 hindsight the Steve Nash to Lakers deal was horrible, but you got to admit that ish scared dudes including myself, because Nash was balling before he was paired with Kobe in the backcourt.
I DON'T THINK JIM BUSS IS THAT BAD OF AN EXECUTIVE

I know what guns and butter is, just confused about how it applies to Blake getting punked.

I think he was referencing Baby Boy when Melvin put Jody in a choke hold from behind and kicked the back of his head in his own house. He was using that reference to symbolize Blake's interaction with other players.

That's exactly my point, you have no idea what he's doing so trade him.

Was obvious he didn't fit from the gate and they tried to bank the future of their franchise on him, who does that? Bringing in a 38 year old PG who gave his prime years to two other teams already for 9 mill per and giving up picks was bad from the jump.

The Kobe contract still isn't a bad move, they couldn't have predicted his knee, he was coming off a vintage Kobe season and if you're unaware, he actually took a discount because he coulda got 32 mill a year.

See, all of that is great, and I'm not putting the sole problem on Kobe, but at the end of the day an it's about the Lakers.

Not Kobe. The Lakers. Not to diminish what he's done for the franchise, but it still should be the franchise first and foremost. The number one thing of concern should always be trying to make the Lakers better and putting the best product on the floor. The Kobe contract in my opinion, was not a move that makes the Lakers basketball team better going forward, added to the other incompetent moves that the Lakers front office has done recently.

3 billion papi.

Oklahoma Red :rollin :hat

Way better than Quake

Someone said Red Bull the other day. I think they were talking about someone else, but I could see that for Blake too. Of course, since Blake endorses Red Bull the drink, he'd probably have to clear it with them first.

Kobe put up 27/6/6 and carried the Lakers into the playoffs and you don't think he deserves that contract at the least? :lol

He already took a 12 million dollar discount over what he was supposed to get, idk what more you want from him.

Like I said, look at the other moves they've made, Kobe isn't the problem.

Do you disagree with the notion that that contract hurts the Lakers going forward rather than help them?

lol, ok so you trade him to where exactly? I have a hard time believing any team in the League wants to rent a player for just 1 season while trading away best player or draft picks.

from Nash to Dwight, nobody looked comfortable playing alongside one another.

like how they couldn't have predicted Dwight staying or leaving right? Kobe was not vintage Kobe, if he were the Lakers would have finish number 1 in the West regardless of his season ending injury.

Lakers still aren't flexible even with that discount lol. Regardless of how it goes down, that contract is horrible for the Lakers, unless he is willing to take a paycut, the Lakers are going to be haunted until he retires.

Thank you, even further illustrates my point

Can't complain about Kobe contract crippling the Lakers when the CBA is robbing players of their true value to begin with
then why is Kobe complaining about the Lakers front office for not making moves? Look I'm all about the players getting their equal share of the cake, but when you complain about losing games, while your eating 50% and ain't doing a thang (performance wise), you should point the finger when it's 50% your fault.

I doubt anyone other than Kevin Love wants to join Kobe and the Lakers, because the situation in Minny is Hiroshima compared to LaLa Land.

If his knee holds up Kobe is still a great player that can help the Lakers make a push if the younger players develop. I dont see any championships in Kobe's near future on the Lakers as a player but he can def still ball.
