The draft is right around the corner, post who you want your team to get.

-The A's need a 3rd basemen, but never seem to have a great prospect to match that need. Come on Billy, Chavy is not the future.

-I'd like to see us get an outfielder of the future, a Carl Crawford type. I wouldn't mind a mid teen's-round pick of someone like AndrewRodriguez, fastest high school prospect in the draft.

if you're going to make an official thread, a month in advance at that, at least check the spelling on the title and have the order posted

anywhoo, Logan White needs to keep doing what he's good at and get all the pitching we can even though he's not the head of scouting anymore

Biggest thing about the MLB Draft I'm sure we'll see at some point...

You never, ever, ever, ever, ever draft for need. Ever.

Draft the best player available every single time.

I have heard reports that this kid Strasburg could skip the minor leagues completely. I heard one reporter say that if he was in the Major Leagues right now,he would be as good as AJ Burnett. Im not saying I agree this will happen, its just what I heard. Dont shoot the messenger.

there are maybe 2-3 kids that maybe see the bigs by next year but everyone else spends 2-3 min. in the minors. and thats only if you come out of college.relief pitchers and closers move the fastest through the system.

Excited for this years draft. My roommate was selected in the 23rd round last year but didn't sign. He came back to school and has sucked it up all year. Might not even get picked this year. Another friend of mine went in the 32nd last year even after sitting out the entire year for

and also came back to school. He had a pretty good year and could be looking atgoing in the 10-15 range. Should be fun to see where they go.

Stephen Strasburg

Can't wait to see how he will do at the next level.

yea ive read a scout say that he could be drafted and make around 13 starts THIS year for the Nats, of course if he gets his money

Definitely true. You can always dangle a high draft pick as trade bait later on.

I hope my boy gets drafted. DII Pitcher of the Year in the Peach Belt Conference. 9-0, 2.63 era in 11 starts.

Apparently Scott Boras is asking for $50 million for signing Stephen Strasburg. The previous record for a pitcher was $10 million for Mark Prior.

^I heard that too. What a JOKE. If he gets anything close to that, it would be absolutely unreal. How can any major leaguer not want Boras as their agent. Surehe is a little much, but he gets his clients BREADED up.

sucks

but I can't hate on his clients.

Strasburg ain't gonna see $50M... If he's genuinely expecting that kinda cash, he better be ready to sit out a year, and come back to the draft nextyear ready to dance with the Nationals all over again...

The Nats will have leverage in these negotiations... They're looking at drafting #1 and #2 overall next year if they draft Strasburg and he doesn'tsign, so all they gotta do is tell him he'd better be ready to essentially throw 2 years of his big league career down the drain if he's ready to makedemands that far above and beyond what has previously been given to top talent... Add that to the potential risks of going to independent leagues and havinghis elbow fall apart? It ain't worth it... Take a Major League deal with a $15-25M guarantee right now and get that free agency clock burning as soon aspossible...

but if it's signability that's an issue don't you think he'll drop down the draft a la Hochevar or Jered Weaver?

Can't see it with this guy... If the Nationals draft him, offer him substantially more than Prior's $10M, and he doesn't sign, itwon't be a PR nightmare...

If they pass on him all together, they're gonna get KILLED... Especially after failing to sign Aaron Crow last year over $250K...

And if he refuses to sign this year and goes the indy league route, I'd draft him right back again next year and tell him too damn bad... If this guyisn't a National one way or another, I'd be SHOCKED...
