tell me again what happened in the finals that year.

anyone who does not think that losing Lamar isn't a big deal for the lakers knows little about NBA basketball.

We still MADE it to the finals without Odom on the bench.. Anybody here know why?
nerd.gif
Because Sasha & Jordan had good years.
We had one of the bests benches that year without Odom on the bench. All we need is Jordan & Sasha to step up. Oh and we also
got there without Bynum and it was Odom's "soft" play in that finals was a big part in why we lost that year too
wink.gif
. I think we have a
better bench NOW then we did with the 08 squad. With Brown and Powell. Don't get wrong if Odom comes back our bench is
solid but if he doesn't we just need to ask more of Jordan & Sasha and I don't think they'll play as bad as they did last year..

Don't forget his 2000 Lakers team
pimp.gif
He even said on one of hisinterviews that it would be a toss up between '00 Lakers and I think '95 Bulls.

yehh and that 2000 team also had their shares of struggles in the playoffs too

3 stars and Bynum should be enough to win another title

if you have Kobe, Gasol, Artest, Bynum is the starting lineup, all the other pieces are just role players that will fall into place

LO would almost guarantee a chip, but we can still win it without him because of our 3 stars + Bynum

--We need Odom.
--The Spurs, Mavericks are locked ad RELOADED.
--Lakers can make it to the WCF. Odom is only one man, and makes a little bit of difference. But those differences add up.
--So long Lamar.
Listen man. I understand what youre saying.

BUT........we were waaaaaaay ahead of San Antonio and Dallas last season.

With the changes DAL and SA made this offseason, they have moved closer to our level. But they haven't surpassed us.

We hav 3 star players AND a great young center. Having Odom would make it unfair almost
laugh.gif

My point is, we are still the best in the West if Odom leaves for Miami.

The only concern is Boston, Cleveland and Orlando.

And, to be honest, I don't see a team of Kobe, Gasol, Artest and Bynum (assuming all healthy) losing to any team in the NBA. That's just too much talent.

Instead of breezing through the playoffs in 2010 with LO, now we might have to fight a little harder like we did this past season.

I'm totally with you man, that's how I've been feeling about this whole thing since the beginning. Everyone is so pessimistic about the Lakers& this Odom situation saying we have no chance without him & what not. I say we are still the team to beat with or without Odom

I'm still confident Odom will return to the Lakers especially if there's an offer
from the Lakers in the neighborhood of 5 yrs. 45 million.

I'm a logical person and I don't see the logic in gaining maybe one more million
to play for a losing team. Granted, that's me and not LO.

he played well against a weaker team in orlando in a contract year. would it be good if hes still on the team? ofcourse. but you guys acting like its the end of the world.

u wouldnt do an artest for odom trade? yea right. u wouldnt trade an intense warrior who gives you his all everynight for an inconsistent pothead? lol yea right.

and ariza was a product of stars around him. it was no coincidence he had his best year here...
I wouldn't trade lamar for artest straight up. Lamar's versatility is too valuable. Name me another power forward who can get therebound, initiate the offense, make the right pass or take it to the basket himself to finish off the play, all the while playing solid defense and is a greatlocker room guy. Please name him.

Artest has a history of injury trouble. We still don't know how he's gonna fit into the offense or if he'll pick it up. He is a great player butthere are still questions to be answered.

Everyone talks about Lamr disappearing in the finals. They went up against a great Celtics defense and the defensive player of the year

Yeah but half the time Odom tries to push the ball at the wrong time, makes a bad pass and is lax on D
tired.gif
. I see this Odom far more then I see
the one you just described.

I would for sure trade Odom for Artest. Ithought a few years ago that trade was actually mentioned and a lot of
people on here we saying "do it Mitch"
laugh.gif
but I could be wrong..Odom is the MOST overated player on our team by far.

You focus on the negative way more than the positive. For every one bad thing Lamar might do, he does 3 or 4 things right.

How is he so versatile? He only D's 1 position and can only play 1 position on O. He's too slow to D up the SF and he's a below average shooter
so he can't play at SF. Yeah he "can" lead the break but how often does that "actually" happen? He makes bad decisions with the ball alot more
the you give him credit for. Probably one of the top players in the offensive charge category. He should've signed with us if he was gonna stick to
his word but that whole "word is bond" Queens thing is BS. We gave him a great offer and he waits so we screwed. Does he make our team better?
Yes but at what cost?

yeah, I guess a power forward who who can shoot from the outside, post up, penetrate, set up other teammates with the pass, rebound, block shots, andcommunicate on defense isn't very versatile.

He's also valuable cuz he changes the dynamic of the team. He moves Pau to the center spot which teams can't automatically matchup with becausethey're set up to go against two 7 footers. When he comes in, the Lakers are the best passing team in the nba with him and Pau on the front line so teamsjust can't pack it in cuz the Lakers will make you pay by moving the ball around. it doesn't matter that on defense he just plays one position.
Also if you really knew about the triangle, Lamar isn't considered a forward, he's actually a guard and Kobe is considered the small forward and the SFis the PF. Just another reason why the Lakers are so dangerous on offense cuz it puts the opposing PF out of position on the perimeter

we lost the finals cause of odom??? gasol gets no blame?? odom avged 13 and 9 in the series..and gasol had 14 and 10..but yet odom is THE MAINreason we lost? dude pretty much put up what he put up the whole season..gasol was the one that didnt put up the 19 and 9 he had during the season

Odom is consistant with his D, so how is he play half @!* defense? sometimes i get the feeling u only watch the laker games if its on national tv. Odom is ourinsurance, hes capable of starting and coming off the bench thats why hes valuable if Gasol or Bynum goes down...kobe, artest, odom, bynum...is still effectiveas kobe, artest, odom, gasol..

and please tell me how he is an overrated bench player? dude put up nearly a double double off the bench so how is that overrated?? LOL..bynum is easily themost overrated player on the lakers so fall back with all that...

I don't even see why we are going through this back and forth.

Lamar is the key to a repeat. Yes we all know he is inconstant but when he is on we can't be beat.

We need him. I want him.

But he doesn't seem to want us. Have to let him go but he is no longer welcome in LA if he takes that MIA deal.

We gave him a chance and he wanted to be greedy for 4 mil more. (considering the 3y/30mil deal)

All I can say is I want him back. I will welcome him back if he signs. If not SCREW HIM!

We will just have to do the best we can without him.

This is why i am not following the situation closely.

If he doesn't want to comeback, then he should sign with MIA and stop wasting everyone's time.

Lamar Odom-F- Lakers Jul. 26 - 10:11 pm et

Janis Carr of the O.C. Register reports that "those who know say Odom will remain in Los Angeles and will make it official soon."
Heat beat writer Ira Winderman wrote on Sunday, "Is Lamar headed back to South Florida? Probably not." This contradicts a recent report by Yahoo! Sports, and only time will tell whether he is using the Heat as leverage or legitimately considering a reunion with Dwyane Wade.
From Rotoworld.com

I don't know what to believe. Hopefully he makes his decision soon.

laugh.gif
This is ridiculous. There's a part of me that doesn't evencare where he goes any more. Just make it official already. If LA is going to have to move on, let us know now.

Back and forth, back and forth.

I'm not going to believe anything until it's OFFICIAL from a CREDIBLE source.

From the OC register...
Odom to Miami? Don't bet on it

July 26th, 2009, 5:16 pm · 14 Comments · posted by JANIS CARR, OCREGISTER.COM
The talk (at this moment) is Lamar Odom is "leading strongly toward accepting" a 5-year, $34 million deal from Miami. From conversations I've had, I'm convinced that those reports are nothing more than agent posturing.

Even the fact Pat Riley flew to Los Angeles this weekend still doesn't change the fact Odom wants to remain with the Lakers. (The Heat president owns a house in L.A.)

Ramona Shelburne of the L.A. Daily News said that "theories and facts change from day to day." But the belief among those who know say Odom will remain in Los Angeles and will make it official soon.

Pretty much the same thing you posted DTruth07.

Let's just see.

because thats what they could have been looking at right now.

i wonder if odom realizes the suspense/anxiety he is creating in the city of LA with this delay ....
