[::2009 Champion LAKERS OFF-SEASON THREAD Vol. Boring Non-News Days Causing In-Thread Tension::]

then I don't know what to tell ya.

34 year olds makin 8 mil usually don't work out well for the teams. Especially when at that point several other key members will have fallen off and wewill need to rebuild by then.
smh.gif

I'd say $9mil would be the highest I'd be willing to go, and 5 years would be the longest I would be willing to commit to him for, so 5 years/$40milwould be at the brink of both of my comforts regarding a contract.

^
No, 5 x 9 = 45 mil.

Which is damn near that 5/50 Hedo was offered. And that was a bad contract. 5/45 would be, a bad contract.

Regarding concerns that we'll be thrust into the ever unfortunate 'rebuilding' phase in about 4-6 years time, I think we have to consider thereality of being a contender in the present.

It's impossible to sustain a championship-caliber team for more than ~five years. Unless you're gifted with a young nucleus that develops quickly andyou find a way to keep them all together (Trailblazers?), the only other way to build a champion is to sign already established players. Of course, by the timethey're established they're probably in their prime years, meaning that you're already counting down precious time until their skills begin todepreciate. Unfortunately, that is the nature of playing to win: you have to bet it all to give yourself a chance.

With that being the case, I was able to come to terms with Trevor leaving and taking in Artest, because for whatever Trevor's ceiling may be, Artest hasalready hit his, and it's better than what Trevor has now. And if what Trevor has now gave us a big hand in winning the title, then getting someone who isever better can only help our chances of repeating.

Fortunately for us, we still have younger players who we can look to to anchor a mediocre Laker team in the future. Bynum, Brown, Farmar, and yes, even Sasha(even though he'll be around 30, which is still servicable). At that point, it's up to the front office to sort out what we'll need.

If it means winning now, I am okay with rebuilding down the line.

EDIT: I forgot that Sasha and probably a few other Lakers will be done with their current contracts at that point. This is in the hopes that they all stickaround

This is ridiculous and highly frustrating. I am so tired of hovering around ESPN.com, NBA.com, NT...or gazing at the ESPN ticker only to see nothing.

This is taking way too long..but it wouldn't be LA without some drama.

The guy has to do what's best for him. I hope he sees that staying on this lakers squad is the best thing to do but hey you never know with the candy man.

All we can do is wait.

"you need a new hobby ___, whatever happens, happens, we will hear about it no mattter what, its just a matter of time to find out whats he going to do,no need to keep updating me every single time an article comes out which basically is all saying the same thing ..."

after that i realized i was really wAS going crazy about this LO situation , so im basically just here waiting patiently..

And you know I don't mean any disrespect to you at all, dyyhard.

Friggin Kentucky can get their wheaties boxes, the state right above Cali can't.

And people still ask me why I hate this friggin Fidel state.

Any of you seen those regional basketball mags from just after the finals? Sports authority I think. They have 5 regional covers, D12, Paul Peirce, Melo,Kobe, and Bron.

Which region is Oregon? Either Kobe, or maybe Melo right?

Which one did we get? LeBron.
indifferent.gif

What the _ does Cleveland Ohio have to do with Oregon? Not a God damn thing. But heaven forbid, I get to see any "rivals" of these losers aroundhere.
