09 Real Deal College Football Discussion/No Homers - Lets geh geh GET IT!

Another day done in San Antonio. A few thoughts...

I DO NOT think this Matt Elam thing is over. I'm hearing way too much stuff down here about his conversation with Urban Meyer and about a potential flip either Saturday on TV during the game or before. More people down here think he's going to be a Gator than a Seminole and that wasn't the case Monday morning.

It will be very interesting to see if DE Brandon Willis ends up re-committing to Tennessee. There has been some talk of that since he has faded on UNC since he got here and he's unsure of UCLA and Cal. Maybe Miami sneaks in and steals him or he heads off to UCLA, but Tennessee has life again.

There's a chance that two announcements on TV Saturday will be re-commitments if Elam announces and chooses Florida and Willis chooses Tennessee.

Florida is gaining momentum for Sharrif Floyd, especially with Ronald Powell expected to announce for Florida Saturday. If the Gators get Elam back and land Powell and Floyd, this will have been one of the best commitment hauls ever down here.

Why do I get the feeling that J.R. Ferguson hasn't taken an official to the school he will eventually choose. I know he likes LSU and Cal, but I keep hearing Miami and UCLA have a great shot at him depending on whichever one gets that last official visit. It would actually be even more interesting if he decided to replace Oklahoma with one of them and then took his last visit to the other.

Dillon Baxter is working Seantrel Henderson very hard for USC. The Trojans and Buckeyes seem to be emerging more and more as the two to beat.

Until tomorrow!

nah we all knew they were overrated. you woulda got roasted if you posted yesterday, but that moment's passed.

it would be nice if you admitted they don't belong on the same field as Florida though.
Elam rethinking decision after talk with Meyer
Talk about it in Alligator Alley
SAN ANTONIO - The Matt Elam recruiting saga continued Tuesday after the West Palm Beach (Fla.) Dwyer five-star safety said he and Florida coach Urban Meyer had a phone conversation Monday.

Elam, who switched from the Gators to Florida State on New Year's Eve, now says Florida is back in the picture after he talked to Meyer. Expected to be an early enrollee, Elam said he might announce his decision at Saturday's U.S. Army All-American Bowl.

Elam may switch back to Florida following a talk with Florida's Urban Meyer.
"I talked to Urban last night," Elam said. "We were talking about our relationship basically and he told me to have trust, to have trust in him and he asked me a word that really touched me. He said, 'Do you know what faith means?' and he told me the definition. It really touched me a lot. It really touched me so my decision might change."

Meyer and Elam have had a relationship ever since Meyer helped recruit his brother, Abram, to Notre Dame in the 1990s. Knowing Meyer for so long, plus Monday's conversation, might compel Elam to switch back to the Gators.

"I've known him for a while," Elam said. "It's been tough to leave him so I don't know if I'll be able to do that.

"It was mostly an emotional discussion. He was telling me how he was sorry, he didn't know if it was the right idea, but how he wasn't feeling too good and it was an emotional breakdown. It was very emotional."

Rated as the second-best safety and No. 14 recruit in the 2010 class by Rivals.com, Elam said he has not switched from his Florida State commitment.

"I haven't switched yet," Elam said.

The Elam-Meyer relationship was evident Sunday when the Dwyer standout said the main reason he picked Florida in the first place was because of Meyer, who is taking an indefinite leave of absence for unspecified health problems. Maybe Saturday Elam can finally put an end to his topsy-turvy recruitment at the Army bowl.

"It's been tough," Elam said. "I didn't expect it to be like this. I committed early so I didn't expect it to be like this."

We'll see.

Starting to hear that if Tubberville takes the TTU job, $Eddie Gran$ goes with him

We'll see about that as well.

Not sure if that really has any legs.

Tubby and Eddie Gran are absolute BOYS. So that wouldn't suprise me in the slightest if Tuberville is offered the TTU job.

Miramar (Fla.) wide receiver Ivan McCartney is a four-star receiver who is playing this week in the USAAAB in San Antonio.
One of the highest-rated uncommitted prospects in the state, McCartney's announcement is expected to be made on National Signing Day. He has offers from Florida, West Virginia, Miami, and others.

"Right now, I'm still wide open, and I plan on making my decision on Signing Day," McCartney said of his recruitment. "I don't have a top school and so far I've visited Oregon, West Virginia and Florida."

"Oregon has great facilities and a great coaching staff," he continued. "West Virginia felt like home and I have a former teammate, Eugene Smith, playing there. Florida is Florida, even with a lot of things going on there. I love Florida. I have two visits left, and one will go to Miami for sure. Miami is the school I grew up loving, plus the weekend I visit will have all the greats coming back for Super Bowl. Players like Andre Johnson, Santana Moss and Michael Irvin will be there."

McCartney is part of an impressive group of wide receivers on the East team, including Christian Green, Kyle Prater and Markeith Ambles. He spoke of the opportunity to play in the game.

"This is great to be with different players, from all different parts of the country," he stated. "It's a chance to compete against the type of players I will be facing at the next level. I think I've done well, but being from Miami, this cold weather is taking its toll on me."

CLK and staff are on a mission to destroy UGA, I dont know what the beef is but they have taken several shots at them and are really heavy in Georgia andatlanata now. the plan is to make Ga their recruiting base since Tennessee doesnt produce players

Gators have talked to Everette Withers from UNC and tOSU CB coach Taver Johnson.

Withers would be a good pickup as DC.

Florida also offered RB Shontrelle Johnson.

FSU has offered 2011 kid, Tony Steward, LB from Pedro Menendez. I know UF was all over him prior to Strong leaving...but Strong is gone....

Lamaar Thomas will transfer. Idk what to think really. He couldve have been used much more but oh well. Best of luck.

..And I like Taver a lot. I hope they he doesnt bounce.

Not so sure about Mack being gone.

Travon Van is having qualifying issues, he's talking with West Virginia. How does everyone qualify there?

Reshad Jones from UGA entered the draft
