It really is crucial for him to adapt his game especially after he was plagued with those almost chronic knee issues last year so he really can't rely as much on his slowly diminishing athleticism.Yes, that's exactly where he's gravitating towards. He's 30 this year. He's not getting any faster. To continue to perform at the level he is, he's adapting to ensure he doesn't have a dip in form. If he gets it right, he can play in the top level for another 3-5 years. His adaptation is necessary...But he isn't nearly as dangerous. He was basically nobody in the 2nd half. Bale had more chances then him.Because he's starting to slow down in pace, he's turned to becoming a more efficient player. He cut out a lot of the tricks and take ons, and instead uses positioning and vision to beat his man.
