I know with young players it’s important to be patient but I’ve given up on him being a good fit for Real. He’s shown no intelligence or ability to connect with and play on the same wavelength as his teammates. And I’m not sure how much he can develop that. I bet he’d pull a Theo Hernandez though and shine elsewhere. You need a certain skillset and mentality to cut it at Real, and he’s barely shown even a flash of it. I think his ceiling at this point though is becoming a great depth player. What he needs more than a change of scenery is to look at how Benzema at times is relentless with his movement off the ball.

He’s lucky he’s got a coach like Zizou who is always positive, in a mode of trying to get the squad committed to one another, and playing him in spite of zero good performances. I think having that support system instead of being thrown into the fire at United while his confidence is shot is the smarter move. It can also be unsettling to have a 22 year old move around so much. I also think he’d decline it since he’s been getting adequate playing time and might lift a title here. Also Real are trying to push Mariano out (who has offers but is refusing to leave.) I don’t think they want to give him a glimmer of hope, they just want the bag for him and to part ways.

In terms of him(by himself) changing the way we play and lifting the squad. I think if fans are expecting that from him, they'll be disappointed, but it's not his fault.
