It’s up there. A game can really be won or lost by the quality of the midfield. One of the first things I look at when going up against another team is the midfield matchups.

Didn’t even realize there’s CL this week and then an arsenal game on Thursday
. I took a couple days off of work combined with thanksgiving and now I have a nice 9 day vacation with games on pretty much every day

Fittin' to watch this Schalke vs Hamburg match... I know NorthOak waxed poetic about Weston being physical but having watched him in Bundesliga play (outside of his first US cap with the MNT), he's too physical & needs to be smarter. He fouls the ish outta the opposing players largely because he's stabbing at balls from behind his man or making the play on the man & not the ball.
As I suspected, he's got 18 fouls in 6 appearances with Schalke so far this campaign (2 yellow cards). He's young yet so there should be growth... He's in an excellent position if Goretzka does leave because he might be able to slot in his position...
Edit - He needs to learn to move into good space off the ball... My god he's fast...

Both? Eh not really trying to see Ed send a Brink's truck for Bale at this point,dude is too injury prone to risk dropping huge money on. Although he'd be a better fit tactically than Griez imo,Griez would have to play out on the wing or at the 10 if he came and those aren't exactly his best positions...
Also seen reports of Shaw possibly being sold to make way for Danny Rose in January,Youngs played real well at LB this season but he's def no long term option. Might as well get a younger replacement if Shaw has no future at the club like it seems

No way we get bale/griez.. and I would think Griez fits us more. He can play the 10 right behind Lukaku and is used to playing in a defensively minded team already. Both Mkhi and Mata have struggled in the 10 this year so would make sense. As much as I would love bale, Madrid would want too much.

When has Griez played at the 10? He doesn't really have the skill set to be the primary playmaker imo.
He's played mostly up top or as a second striker just behind at Atleti and for France

Well yesterday he played with rash right behind Lukaku after mata failed in the 10 role. I should have been more specific by saying griez would play that role if he came.
