Jesus was unproductive all tournament. Really disappointed in his performance. Coutinho had a bad game today. Seemed to have trouble controlling the ball, but he still managed an assist.

My question now is that since neither Ronaldo, Messi, or Neymar managed anything out of the ordinary this WC, who do y’all have as the front runner for the Ballon D’or? :nerd:

Ronaldo

missed all the action but it feels good knowing neymar won't get the balon d' or when his whole reason for leaving barca was to get the balon d' or

how many foreign-born, nationalized players do teams like argentina, brasil, uruguay or mexico have? compare that with european teams
According to a WP article, of the 82 foreign born players in WC, 29 were born in France, Netherlands second with 7 and brazil third with 5. France has two, Belgium has 0, England has 1, Sweden has 0. Uruguay has 1, Argentina has 1, Brazil has 0 and Mexico has 0.

thats cool.

only way for european teams to compete on a global scale is to hire foreign players. no latin american teams do this

Lukaku was out there singing the Belgian anthem. That's hardly the behavior of a hired gun.

The fact is, most foreign born players in this WC actually represented countries with weaker leagues, and they took that decision either because their parents wanted to, or because they had no shot at the national team of the country they were born in.

Dude sees a multi-racial team and thinks foreign born hired mercenaries.

 :hat at France producing more elite level players than it could possibly know what to do with.

Neymar was injured a lot and looked overrated, I don’t think he’ll ever reach the Messi/CR7 level.

BdO running resets every calendar year. Messi’s extremely hot end to 2017 while CR7 played like trash is irrelevant (other than reflecting in Liga standings.) Since the start of 2018 Ronaldo was clearly the superior player in club football with a ton of marquee games in big stages and threepeated for the CL while Messi choked the lead to Roma.

Then in the World Cup CR7 overall outplayed Messi and had another marquee match with the hatty against Spain. Neither of their World Cups were legacy defining though. But the impact will be that it’ll weigh favorably for CR7 to overtake Messi in total BdO’s. Which would be an incredible feat considering at one point right after CR7 won his first and it looked like it could be his time, the younger Messi won 4 straight and the 2 were considered to be on different tiers. If CR7 wins then it would make it 6 to 5. With CR7 winning 5 of the last 6. Many memes with goats will be posted across the internet.

ronnie went ghost though in the cl final and in the knockout stages of the WC
and in the game against uruguay he didn't just go ghost...he was god awful

this might be the year no one gets it but messi def had the better season

The Puma hate is too much in here. They make some garbage kits (just like every other manufacturer), but they also come out with some :pimp: ones as well (my favorite one is Arsenal's third kit from 2017). Most of my kits are Nike, but at least in the early part of this decade, Puma kits were far better quality and much better fitting than Nike/Adidas. Their misstep was the first run of their nipple fit shirt that tore easily, but I've seen and experienced the same with the other major brands as well

I love the Milan color scheme but would never rock an Italian club's kit. Got the FC Seoul jersey instead

Speaking of which, the FC Seoul kit is made by Le Coq Sportif, and the comfort factor is :pimp: :pimp: :pimp: . I miss the days football gear was made mostly by brands like that and Umbro, Lotto, Diadora, etc. The shirts I used to play in during the 90s/early 2000s >>>>>> any of the "big brand" shirts being put out today IMO

To be honest I really just don’t like their branding. A big cat isn’t exactly the most appealing logo, but given the name of the brand there not much you can change there

My favorite kit they’ve done to this day is still the 2015 arsenal home shirt. Super classy kit and still my favorite from that season and possibly one of my top kits.

But tbh I haven’t been a fan of any other kits they’ve done outside of Arsenal home shirts. This seasons shirt is horrible, but I’m just not a fan of puma as a brand tbh.

New balance and Umbro actually make some really good kits. Liverpool and West Ham have really dope shirts. Nike fell off and adidas is only good for everyone outside of united. Or maybe it’s just that ugly Chevy logo that ruins all of theirs.

Puma is classic b

There's a classic pic of me with the family, had to been like 5-6, and I'm rocking a puma sweater and sweatpants. Still remember, joint was green. Hardbody.

ronaldo has had the better 2018, they both went out in the first knockout match, its close but I think Ronaldo is in lead, if Modric leads Croatia to the title i think his the actual winner, he just doesn't have the brand to do it.

so out of the teams left in the world up, who can win the balon d or?
griez?
hazard?
i think modric has a real shot... say he gets the golden ball of the tournament too
and god forbid kane might have a chance too

If Hazard got a chance certainly KDB does then. Would have more of a claim then him imo from 2018 to now

Wouldn't be mad at Modric winning it though
