You posted it. I read it.
  2. bc2310

    48÷2(9+3) = ???

That is precisely what I'm saying.  "On that quanity" would translate to "directly next to 'the quanity'" for you.

    48÷2(9+3) = ???

What I read says "ON THAT QUANITY" and it refers to what's in the parentheses as "THE QUANITY"

    48÷2(9+3) = ???

is there a reason you decided to skip the information in the first highlighted section? they wouldn't reference the "order or operations" which implies more than one step, if all they wanted you to do is factor, or distribute (or whatever else team 2 wants to call it other than multiplying)...

For team 2: The 2nd highlighted part says "Parentheses mean "the quanity,"  so always find the quanity inside the parentheses first and then  perform the operations outside of the parentheses ON THAT QUANITY." servechilled (team 288) posted that image 20-30pgs ago btw Carry on...

Hey no worries like I said the symbol is what makes me team2.  I also think it's hilarious how serious people are getting about this 'simple' math problem.   I have stated that without that symbol I'm on team288 from my first post some 15pgs ago (I got in late) *if* / was used instead of the...

Ok I fail at the internets and linked the wrong site.  Just woke up from nap. I'll take the L on that. My corrolla still says team2 and I've already posted this twice "There are two interpretations of the equation: 1. That the multiplication of 2(9+3) carries precedence over the 48 being...

I've come to these conclusions: People are taking this way too seriously Anyone calling the other side an idiot/dummy needs to grow up On all the polls I've seen on other forums it was 45% to 55% tops either way, thus: "There are two interpretations of the equation: 1. That the...
