Your Next Vacation Destination.....?

Definitely want to check out Big Sur and Carmel

I've heard Marin county is really nice too. Seeing some redwoods would be cool if possible

I’d check out Sausalito (which is in Marin County) because the rest of Marin itself is extremely residential. Take a ferry from the piers if you can; you can go through a scenic route in the Bay without dealing with traffic and parking. If you want to check out Muir redwoods, you’ll need a car though.

The downside of the good things to do around the Bay Area/California in general is that you need to have a car and deal with horrible traffic if you want to do anything outside of the main parts of the city. There’s no easy transport to take you to Muir, Big Sur, or Carmel. The semi efficient public transportation like BART and Caltrain are geared towards just getting people to work and back. Even within SF, MUNI is very hit or miss outside of the city center. I used to take it to work, and it was broken down or late so often that I just gave up, drove, and parked illegally in my secret “free parking” spot every day.

If you can rent a car, I’d go to all the scenic nature places on early Saturday/Sunday mornings before lunch time; roads are generally empty.

Didn’t post this while in Paris - but seeing the Eiffel Tower every time I visit Paris, will never get old.

Zimbabwe is a really nice place. The people are very friendly and welcoming. Second time being here, I did not explore as much the first time. Shocked to see so many mansions and exotic cars. Almost everyone have a nanny/gardener/maid. Even the maids have maids. I can see myself spending 2-3 months out the year here.

It’s beginning of rain season now so it’s a bit cloudy. Few weeks ago the sun was blazing.

Has anyone been to Croatia? And if yes, any recs would be greatly appreciated

I've never been but people tell me Dubrovnik is the place to visit.

My brother-in-law just bought a house there with his friend (who is from there) - we're planning to visit next September. Not sure exactly where in Croatia but he says it's nice.

Bought a house there for what? To live, to rent out?

His college classmate is from there. I’m not sure of the whole story but it was something like she had the chance to buy a deceased relative’s place for not much and they went in on it. It’s not huge but good to visit with a few people. I’m not sure what they’re going to do with it the rest of the time - but I get the impression that it wasn’t expensive and they don’t expect it to be an investment. They’re both single pharmacists and can afford it.

Since I posted that I found it it’s near Dubrovnik - and we’re planning to go in August.

Currently in Portugal. We flew out of Dubai (connecting flight).

Double click on what kdawg kdawg said - I LOVE Scotland

Which match are you hitting? I’ll be out there for the return leg @ Emirates vs Man U in Jan
You still going to this game? I actually am too, I ended up getting a ticket for this and the CL game a couple days after

This reminds me. I need to start cross country skiing. I did it as a kid and hated it, but I think I'd like it more now as an adult. There are so many places around here that have it, and it's often super cheap or even free. Downhill is just so damn expensive and crowded now. No thanks.
