Only time will tell...
As of now Respawn isnt acquired by EA
and Respawn has 100% creative liberties and have a bit of marketing choice liberties.
This could, of course, all change out of nowhere
Yeah I remember that west leftyeah i ended up reading it
but is ea any better

The Respawn situation got even messier after that.
-Jason West, President/co-founder/50% owner/project lead, left the company and moves across the country
-Their lead engineer Francesco Gigliotti leaves shortly before the official registration but after it was rumor West stopped showing up at the offices
-Todd Alderman their lead multiplayer designer, he did most of the design work on COD 4's multi, leaves at the same time. Him and the engineering lead were the first to quit IW to go to Respawn. Known to be really loyal to West.
-Another design lead Zied Reike leaves the company a lil bit later. Chills for a while, makes a iOS game, then joins Nuaghty Dog
So two of their 5 design leads are gone, and their lead engineer is gone. Jason West was the one pushing for dedicated servers and 60fps, he was the one who had a "strong relationship" with Microsoft. So Respawn's future will be very interesting with him. I can see that team blowing up again to be honest

But the reasoning wasn't never clear
Any idea what happened

There was a Vanity Fair article around E3 of last year that was doing a piece on them. It claims they fell out because Vampella didn't know about how much of a d-bag West was being to Activision during MW2's development, his behavior during the lawsuit and him not being present at the studio enough during Titanfall's development. So they had a falling out
In Vampella's letter, and in interviews he makes it sound like the problem was with West, that he changed, and they couldn't work together anymore. But he kinda said it in a nice way. But the PR was West retired to handle family issues
Another of the last two og leads a Respawn Mackey Mccandlish painted a different picture, that West is taking a break from the industry, only move to be closer to where is parents retired too.
It kinda seems like West still might own part of, if not still 50% of the company still. Like I said it is weird
West might be done making games. But if I were president of a publisher, I would be throwing money at Alderman
