WWE SummerSlam 8/15 8pm PPV - The Nexus vs Team WWE | Sheamus vs Orton | Kane vs Mysterio (p12)

I was wondering why a lot of signs were professionally done. I was like there's some talent/bored people in LA, but it wasn't.

thing is people see nexus and see a bunch of jobbers. imo none of them have star power. why would anyone on that wwe roster wanna put them over in a good way? they havent earned SQUAT. The only guy who can make it is bryan danielson because he is one of the best technical wrestlers in the world. he may look like a 60 year old man from the 70's but he can wrestle.

i mean you guys are mad cena just took 2 dudes out but hell them dudes dont even have no business being out there.  them dudes should be wrestling in dark matches or on sunday night heat if it was still around

This. Plus, Nexus has to work single and tag matches now since the novelty of the group is going to wear off. They can't do 7 on 7 and run ins every week, its get tired and boring. Anybody who watched them wrestle on NXT knows they suck and putting them over individually is going to be difficult.
You guys completely missed the point (not surprised from NK).  The Nexus aren't about being a group of stars.  They are a GROUP of wrestlers trying to take out everyone in WWE that stands in their way (Cena, Vince, Bret, Edge, Jericho, etc etc).  As individuals, do they have any business headlining SummerSlam?  Hell no.  But based on the past three months of storylines, as a GROUP they do deserve the spot.  It has been the freshest WWE angle in quite some time (even though WWE did plenty to bastardize it).

By having Cena no sell The Nexus and then destroy it's two top guys in a matter of 20 seconds just totally killed any heat the group had, for me at least.  Sure, Nexus will probably come back tonight and cause hell.  But WWE really had a spot to put The Nexus over huge, and they blew it because Superman Cena can't lose one match.

The end result of all of this should have been leading to a Cena vs Barrett showdown, but I don't know why anyone would be interested in seeing this now after last night's results.

Nah, i think it has to do with him being a corporate spokesman for the company. WWE is aware John Cena brings in more $$$ from other source than just t-shirts sales.

It's a different time.  In the NWO/Attitude days, it was "cool" to wear wrestling shirts.  It was teenagers and grown men buying the merchandise.  Now (I don't have exact figures to back it up, but just look at the typical WWE audience), it's parents buying their young children merchandise.  That is why the top sellers are Cena and Mysterio.  Turning Cena heel, a character that young children are against, would be a huge blow to merchandise sales.  With WWE's current product, I can't see people thinking it's cool to wear a Cena shirt, even if he's heel.

Funny because before Cena unveiled his new shirt last night, for the past couple weeks the top two selling items on wwshop.com were the blue Miz t-shirt and the Nexus t-shirt. It's possible for heel merchandise to sell. Turn Cena heel and his merch might even sell more than before.

As far as Summerslam goes, it was a pretty good show with a very disappointing finish.

Sheamus vs Orton was a very good match until the finish.

Kane vs Rey was better than expected and Taker returning is always cool to see. It was also surprising to see Kane get the best of him since usually the returning star comes back strong.

Nexus vs WWE, aside from the finish, was a great main event. When was the last time a non title/stipulation match generated so much heat and fan interest as this match did, especially as a PPV main event?

Danielson returning was awesome and he had a very good showing, and based on the fans response to him, the "WWE Universe" (ugh) hasn't forgotten about him. If his firing was a work, it was one of the greatest in history. The Miz interference sets up a legitimate feud for the U.S. title and will finally get the title off of Miz who has treated it as nothing more than a prop.

Although Cena ultimately supermanned Gabriel and Barrett, some of the Nexus members did come off as legitimate threats. Sheffield looked very strong and Gabriel proved he could hang with the big boys. Slater will never be taken serious but he did put on a decent performance.

Very interested to see what becomes of the Nexus tonight on RAW.

This site is well worth the 10.99/month. I don't even read the newsletters, I just listen to all of their radio shows that they do with Meltzer, Lance Storm and Mikey Whipwreck. Alvarez is good too.

If I spent more time on NT I would gladly do N&N but I don't want to offend the masses.

Man that crowd is going to be dead tonight. I don't understand LA events. Even at Laker games it always seems like the crowd is dead.

Nailed it.

There were plenty of things in the match that took place that if Cena lost, it would not have made him look weak; Hart getting DQ'd, Edge and Jericho attacking Cena, Bryan getting taken out by Miz.

Say Cena had pinned Gabriel, but then ended up losing the match with Barrett standing tall, the fans would have left feeling that Cena could have and should have won, but his team fell apart and fell victim to circumstance. Thus ultimately making a Cena/Barrett one-on-one showdown very intriguing.

To make it even worse, tonight's show is a double Raw taping.  I fully expected post production crowd noise for next week's show.

He quit lifting hard and steroids. I also think its part of his new lifestyle, dude is no longer about the "evolution life" of popping bottles, wearing prada suits, and looking GQ. Its about tats, guns, and hunting.
