He's not branching off..He's taking a crappy gig on MTV cause nobody else wants to do business with him..
His problem was he quit WWE and made everyone think he'd make his UFC debut in a relatively short period of time..Instead it turned into a 2 1/2 debacle that ended in a humiliating loss..What name recognition he has left is pretty much used up..It's not like The Challenge is going to get a huge ratings bump because of a nearly 40yr old former wrestler..If he ever wants to make any real money ever again he better start sucking the McMahon family's taint muscle now and maybe he'll get to come back before he hits the big 4-0..
Right on cue, the Stinker letting his ridiculous personal feelings stand in the way of actual logic.
No matter how you feel, more people now know the name CM Punk then they did when he was in the WWE. I'm going to break it down so you can understand even while hopped up on those painkillers.
CM Punk left the WWE partly because the part timers that brcame greater than the business were being brought in to main event Wretlemania in order for
CASUAL viewers to tune in.
Vince didn't feel that CM Punk would bring in more viewers than The Rock who went off and became a movie star and Brock who went off and became a UFC star
Punk left and joined the UFC. Even with the loss, with all that publicity he received from all the news publications and ESPN, they are now
MORE people aware of who CM Punk is.
No one is depending on Punk to bring ratings to the challenge. But now that he will be on it, he is now being introduced to the MTV demographic which means
MORE people are aware of who he is.
Rock is a superstar. Taker is retired. Shovel has stunk up 3 WMs in a Row. Angle can't pass a Wellness Test. Cena has one foot out the door. Once Ramen beats Brock at WM, there are no more special attractions left for Vince to bring in for the casual viewer to get coverage from ESPN, newspapers and MTV.
Guess who left the WWE and became marketable in all of those demographics. Vince needs Punk way more than Punk needs Vince. And I believe Vince will come to that realization.
This is all a business and you don't let petty emotions stop you from doing what's best for business. Good thing you're just a mark and not a decision maker.
