Wrestling Thread April-September 2018 RIP

The kid was referee John Cone's kid, so the fact that it's not a make a wish kid makes it even more confusing

would you guys feel better about the aj/nak match if it happened earlier in the night? i know i was already getting tired by the time that match started so i gotta go back and watch it again.
It just never clicked for me.

Someone hook it up with an Asuka "Congratulations!" gif. Hysterical.

Honestly one of highlights of the night was hearing @ihust1e mark out for Angle

I marked too. We got the singlet, pyro, singlet straps taken off, etc. He looked slow as **** but still was happy to see he didn't die out there.

like someone here mentioned last night, they should've used WWE HOFer JJ instead

I thought it would have been Rey, Big Show or Alexa Bliss.

I WAS tired. I was ready for that match from the jump.

Maybe should have opened?

Again, TOO MUCH !

TOO MANY people that have to be on the show.

i enjoyed it. ppl were expecting a longer match and kicking out of numerous knee to faces, styles clash, etc.
it is a great start to program and the final match should be the memorable one. get a different nak chasing that belt. i assume styles stays on the blue brand

Good way to look at it. They are clearly moving forward.

It was a safe, solid match.

You are right, expectations were high as hell

Was sports entertained. Had a bit of everything for all fans, not just marks and dirtsheeters

Of couse it was going to be long, it is Wrestle freakin mania lol
This hits the nail on the head.

My guy Roman was in a tough spot man. All these dumb marks already hate him, and then he has to be handcuffed into a finisher-fest because Brock can't do anything else, so it makes him look even worse.

First half was great. Second half was bad. IC title match or Ronda and Kurt vs HHH and Steph was MOTN. Charlotte vs Asuka was one of the best women's matches I've ever seen. Styles vs Nak was very disappointing and I'm not sure about heel Nak but glad Styles won. Usos didn't get enough shine. Rusev shouldn't won but freaking Jinder... Braun's partner was a big disappointment. Imagine if Impact did something like that... they'd get so much crap for it. And the main event was absolutely awful. Have to endure more Brock and Paul and boring *** Suplex City...

TakeOver was amazing though. First time seeing Richochet and he's awesome. Comes off like a superhero. Everyone in the ladder match looked like a star and glad Cole won. He has IT. Kyle O'Reily did more subtle funny stuff in the tag match. Not a fan of Black winning the NXT title though. I wanted Almas to retain because it seemed like he was having a great reign and wanted it to go on longer. Thought they rushed Zelina costing Almas the title. Gargano vs Ciampa was incredible like everyone has said. REAL heel vs REAL babyface = money

Yep. People don’t really have a leg to stand on when it comes to shots at Japan and TNA now. WWE chose extreme pandering and desperation clicks at their biggest PPV of the year, in one of the last matches on the show. That was a pre-show Heath Slater/Rhyno thing they did.

totally agree with roman being put in a bad position. we know he can go in the ring, despite what a lot of his naysayer say
hard to squeeze a performance out of brock when he doesnt care. remember the match with dean (was that at mania?), he clearly shot down every idea that dean had. i was shocked when he let AJ work him during their matchup, but those times are far and few.

hasn't wwe been doing this for ages? they've bring in celebs in the past for matches. i know the kid isn't a celeb but this sort of booking isn't anything new, especially for mania. you think they needed "desperation clicks" when you got ronda, taker/cena, and daniel's return?

Speaking of pandering (No disrespect to @22stylez / Meangene45 Meangene45 )

But the whole Finn coming out with LGBT folks, why? Looked SO forced

Just finished NXT that literally had the best card of the weekend. The only match that was meh was the women's match. Great wrestling with good story telling.

Matches I like this weekend
Cody vs Kenny
Marty vs Dalton
Tomaso vs Johnny
Almas vs Black
LAX vs Mac and Kill shot
Ibushi vs Page
Charlotte vs Asuka
6 man ladder
Miz vs Finn vs Seth

It was definitely a very safe WWE coat of paint match. Never really got out of gear, as if the whole match was solely designed for Nakamura’s turn and the next match will be the better one

They just can’t help themselves :lol :lol they want to parade around like they’re all-inclusive to everybody but are pretty much the opposite when it comes to things backstage. This company totally lost the ability to have things be organic.

please indulge me with the honor of being the first to congratulate the Maharaja on adding to his already daunting legacy by claiming the United States Title!

this storied belt has been held by dazzling array of legendary competitors, and luminaries such as Michael Hayes and JBL must be beaming with pride.

he showed incredible wit and guile in taking advantage of the attrition resulting from a grueling match, turning the odds in his favor as only he can!

this is a truly historic moment in time, and may even help to restore the standing of the United States on the world stage.

glory to the Greatest Lion of India! glory to the Nation of Lions! shairan di quam apa saday hoslay rhenday mahan!!!

There was no reason for Rusev not to win that match :lol he got added to the much cause his merch sales jumped up, and he’s the one that eats the pin :rollin I got that’s what Rusev gets for creating Rusev Day while doing random vids instead of the WWE creating it themselves

Maaan, I'm not rollin with that slow buildup crap with AJ and Nak. What better opportunity is there to have them put on a show than at Mania? Nak's been praised for being so great in the ring, yet he's only had like 2 or 3 great matches since he's been with WWE. Dude is either washed or severely overrated. His theme song still slaps tho.
