Wrestling Thread April-September 2018 RIP

Part of me feels like he could actually get more over without the mask, but his gear is just too cool.

Ditto. He showed a ton of personality with his Sen Dog from Cypress Hill gimmick, but his current gear is fantastic, and I’m sure they make money off of masks even though he’s basically a jobber

I think I have mentioned this many times here, I hate how bright WWE/WWF is. Another reason why WCW/NWA will always be my folks

And we've made note of how, years ago, the lighting wasn't as distinguishable between companies/territories.

The majority of the WWF matches I watched as a kid were as dimly lit as the nwa counterpart.
I remember you watching some old school wwf match and perhaps being surprised by this.
Or you at least made not of it.

then it all changed
on that note - never been a huge fan of pyro myself

Similar to WWE's multiple Royal Rumble events in 2018, the WWE is reportedly preparing to do the same thing for a bigger event within the next few years. According to sources at Barnburner, the WWE is planning on holding two WrestleMania events by 2020.

Sources went on to tell Barnburner there isn't a definite name for the secondary event, but it will be very close to the Royal Rumble and Greatest Royal Rumble idea.

The WWE's deal with the Fox network begins in the fall of 2019. By the time 2020 hits, Smackdown Live will acclimate to their new network. WWE NXT will reportedly air on Fox Sports One. With the global brand expanding, sources tell Barnburner the second WrestleMania could emanate from Saudi Arabia, London or even Australia. The WWE wants to have one in April and the second one in October.

WWE fans in the United Kingdom continue to want a WrestleMania in London, after having very few pay-per-views entirely on their soil. NXT Takeover London was the last WWE special to appear there, and that took place in December of 2015. Prior to that, the U.K. famously hosted SummerSlam in 1992 at Wembley Stadium.

In March, the WWE announced their return to MetLife Stadium in New York. WrestleMania 29 was held at MetLife Stadium, featuring the final WrestleMania event for CM Punk and his spectacular match against the Undertaker. John Cena also defeated the Rock for the WWE championship in the main event.

At WWE's press conference in the spring, Ronda Rousey, among others, were showcased in an attempt to build hype for the big event in over a year's time. By simply taking a look at the roster right now, WWE officials have a big chance to make WrestleMania in 2019 a world-class show. That could include females headlining the show with Charlotte and Rousey.

However, the story continues to circulate around having two WrestleManias within the next three years. Producing big shows such as that cost a lot of money. Vince McMahon announced the return of the XFL for 2020. The WWE is moving their new 'flagship show' to Fox in October of 2019.

Big things are coming for World Wrestling Entertainment and producing two WrestleMania shows in one year is destined to be the climax.

Lol at a 2nd Wrestlemania. Doesn't Summerslam already serve that purpose?

Hmmm can I trust this..... IT doesn’t have the Blue Mamba Blue Mamba endorsement. :emoji_thinking:

Smackdown did not need the first 45 minutes or so to first do Styles vs Nakamura then make it a tag match. Waste of time. Should've just done the tag match.

Then they could've used Samoa Joe in the next segment

Also unless American Alpha is reuniting, Gable should've stayed on Smackdown. He could've at least competed for the US title. Now he's on Raw doing nothing
