Wrestling Thread Apr 16-22 | $*!$ Smackdown from LONDON - Tons of YES Chants, Antonio Cesaro Debuts

^^^They need to tone down Tensai's "caricatureness", have him be more badass, and i think he should be moving faster in the ring and not
telegraphing stuff so much.

Thought Raw was good, especially the crowd. Kofi & Bryan was very good, same with Punk/Henry, and loved Brock's UFC style promo.

Almost forgot we had tag champs, and Khali makes Maryse look like Shawn Michaels.

I think he's got a *%@@%+*$ of potential, despite his rocky past.

The match with Cena was really good but short. If he gets put into a PPV, or thrown into some matches with bigger names (Tensai vs Lesnar or Big Show, or even Funkasaurus would be awesome, and definitely generate more interest in Tensai if he won.)

People aren't getting crazy about him because he's not running around with a gimmick going "yes!" all the time. Clearly, he's been quiet and methodical in the ring. Give him time to show that he's gonna tear %!** up, and build character traits. Cause he's not had much of a chance to do that. (Wait, are we really judging him after three weeks?) Squashing jobbers doesn't mean much at all. That's like winning in a Divas match. No one really cares.

I find the idea of having an unique gimmick, just like most guys in the 80's interesting. I'm glad to see larger than life characters back in WWE (Funkasaurus, David Otunga and now, Lord Tensai) The idea of representing a huge force after years in Japan is very creative, although I don't think it will work. Little jimmies are big enough not to boo or fear a character like Tensai. They don't understand what wrestling in Japan means because they don't even $@!+*#! know it exists outside of WWE. Smarks don't care about whatever story they're trying to push (they never do), so the WWE is appealing to no one with this gimmick I'm sure.

Regardless I'm excited to see where Tensai goes after last night.

Agree with this. I do feel like he needs new music. After his victory over Cena I couldn't help but notice how generic wrestling Asian his music was. He needs something more uptempo and badass sounding. I also like that Sakamoto will be utilized as a threat outside the ring during his matches. There's tons of potential with the Tensai character.

Overall another thoroughly enjoyable RAW. It's great to come in here with nothing to complain about and nobody else really complaining about the product, not even 4w.

Another thought I had watching RAW last night is the WWE really needs to take the belt off of Sheamus and get him away from Daniel Bryan. It is completely killing any positive heat he was getting and he is going to continually get #%%+ on by the smart crowds.

Maybe actually telling the back story on Albert would help get this gimmick over. I mean the WWE isn't opposed to letting you know that he was in the WWE in the past. Why not tell the story of him going to Japan a la Beatrix Kiddo in Kill Bill Volume 2? Why not explain the transformation instead of just by alluding to his past? It would help explain, and to an extent dignify, his new character.  Treat Tensai as an evolution in character, not like Isaac Yankem becoming Kane.

I like Tensai.

They just needed to feed him bigger names to make his character seem like a legitimate threat which I think they kinda accomplished last night...even though it wasn't a clean win.

His entrance gear is ATROCIOUS though.

He looks like he's wearing a children's size costume of Kyo from the Octagon.

Anyone been to a TNA house show before?

There's one at the hockey arena not far from my house in a couple weeks. Tickets are only $27. Contemplating going.

The TNA IMPACT WRESTLING World Tour is an interactive experience that sends its craziest fans BACKSTAGE to meet their favorite IMPACT WRESTLING Superstars.

Follow ring announcer Jeremy Borash on Twitter (@JeremyBorash) to find out the secret "Tweet & Greet" locations of various Superstars the day of the show.

The loudest Kent fans will be invited backstage for a special IMPACT WRESTLING experience.

Fans that purchase a $55 ticket will receive a special "Meet and Greet" with the IMPACT WRESTLING Superstars at 5:30 pm. (Redeemable with ticket the night of the show).

Appearing live in person at ShoWare Center will be:

"The Charismatic Enigma"
JEFF HARDY

"The Cowboy"
JAMES STORM

Current TNA World Heavyweight Champion
BOBBY ROODE
The TNA Knockouts
AND MORE!

All reports I've ever seen are that TNA house shows have nothing to do with the product on TV, are booked completely differently, and are supposed to be great shows.

I do not like his character at all. Add to the fact that he isn't Japanese and his outfit is HORRIBLE just doesn't do it for me. Those nasty tribal tats also do not help IMO

also knowing that he was prince albert is killing it. he was horrible, and still is. in ring he looks to have improved, but is still terribly not entertaining..

That too!! I'm trying really hard to look past the fact that he was prince albert/A-Train but I just cannot do it.

I really like Lord Tensai, his moveset is slightly different everytime which is always welcomed and his henchman being used as an offensive character outside the ring with those kicks is great.
I know people won't take him seriously since all you hear from the crowd is the Albert chants but ehh, I must say the piercings don't help with shying away from that character.
All he needs is a feud with someone who can carry the promos cause I don't think Tensai should be doing much talking.

don't really like him - in ring skill is boring

Tensai is underwhelming. He's oring on the mic and boring in the ring. He hasn't changed one bit since his departure in 2004.

Smackdown Spoilers (From London) For Friday - Former ROH Star Debuts

Spoiler [+]
Dark match

Antonio Cesaro b ?

NXT

Percy Watson b Johnny Curtis

Maxine b Kaitlyn

Tyler Reks b Curt Hawkins with Striker ref in a loser gets fired match

Superstars

Jinder Mahal b Yoshi Tatsu

Smackdown

Show opened with the announcement of the main event as Great Khali & Randy Orton & Sheamus vs. Mark Henry & Daniel Bryan & Cody Rhodes

Bryan was out first and cheered like crazy, mostly talking about his 2/3 fall match with Sheamus at Extreme Rules.  A.J. came out and tried to get back together with him.  He told her that he wished she had never been born and he had never met her.

Natalya b A.J. via DQ when A.J. just went crazy and wouldn't listen to the ref.  A.J. got carried away and legitimately busted Natalya open and paramedica came out and were wiping all the blood off her and the mat.  That likely won't be shown.

Another Damien Sandow vignette.

Brodus Clay b Hunico.  Hornswoggle was with Clay and hit the tadpole splash on Hunico after the match.

Titus O'Neil and Darren Young were backstage with John Laurinaitis and Teddy Long.  They are now officially on the Smackdown roster and off NXT.

O'Neil & Young b Usos

Alberto Del Rio b Big Show in a non-title match when Cody Rhodes interfered behind the refs back using the Disaster kick.

Ryback b a local wrestler in a quick squash

William Regal came out with Antonio Cesaro to introduce him to John Laurinaitis and they signed him to a contract.

Sheamus & Orton & Show b Bryan & Henry & Rhodes.  Earlier in the show, Rhodes attacked Khali so it was going to be a handicap match but Show came out wanting to get his hands on Rhodes.  Crowd spent most of the match cheering Bryan and doing "Yes" chants.  Orton pinned Henry after an RKO.

I'm really looking forward to this show.

Is there anything on the return of Sin Cara? I know people on here hate him but i'm a fan.
