Dude change the title.
Once I saw the flop I knew how this story was going to play out.

I wanted to be as surprised as the audience was.

Poker isn't gambling and that bad beat isn't even that bad.

Poker is skillful gambling. Luck is a heavy part of it and you can't possibly deny that.
Yes, that beat isn't that bad. Guy who lucked out had 10 outs with 46 cards in play. 1 in 4.6 is not that bad. A 1 outer is a different story (ex. both had sets, guy hits the last J on the river). Now that would have been a little wild.

lol wut?

Maybe you view poker as gambling, but poker is a game of skill with an element of chance.

Anyone who plays for a living will tell you that.

While he took a really bad beat, he could have prevented this.  If he had 5-bet or re-raised pre-all in, he would not have run into this problem.  The pot was already large enough for him to just take the win down pre-flop.  This is the problem with AA vs other pairs where once you get to that flop and that pot size, you are pretty much set.  I would have pushed all in after Duhammel's last pre raise.

Ehh.... I see where youre coming from but when youre that deep in the main event or any tourney and you wake up with AA youre gonna try to get max value for your hand.. Sometimes it works out for you sometimes you end up like affleck did.. But he played the hand exactly how I would have except I would have 5 bet pre. 5 bet Jamming pre is risky since your obviously dont want the other person to fold
