I understand what you had to do in order to keep this site running. But in the same time, when people who were serious in offering money for the "Niketalk Name/Ownership", Why not at least entertain the offers & Sell it to someone who can afford to keep it running and "ad free".
I know BabyJ has since apologized for his comments and I certainly don't harbor any negative feelings towards him for his misconceptions, but I do feel it necessary to address this statement in particular.
I don't know where you get your information, but NO ONE has tendered a LEGITIMATE offer to purchase NikeTalk.
Every offer I've ever received has been an absolute insult to our community.
If you're referencing I$$' "cool offer" to "purchase" NikeTalk for the tidy sum of zero dollars and convert it into an enormous billboard for an unscrupulous reseller, I would
hardly consider that arrangement reasonable - let alone "ad free."
I'm not sure what offers you THINK people have submitted, but no one has EVER offered to simply pay NikeTalk's bills without expecting to capitalize on its profitability or otherwise exploit this community and its members.
No one has the right to demand that we sell NikeTalk, period.
I have been absolutely privileged to be involved with this community since Nelson C and I conceived the project during the summer of 1999. Since we opened up shop in December of that year, we've been joined by over 30 of the most extraordinarily devoted, selfless, intelligent, talented, and capable individuals one could ever hope to meet - and I wouldn't know a single one of them had it not been for NikeTalk. Any attempt to demean their efforts or integrity is an affront to the entire community and all that it's stood for.
For six and a half years, we have run NikeTalk without advertising and without taking a single PENNY in exchange for tens of thousands of hours of exhausting labor - all while overseeing the community expand from half a dozen members to 50,000 registered members and over 100,000 visitors from over 175 countries around the world. If that isn't a testament to our staff's integrity, commitment, and ability - then I don't know what is.
