I don't think Google employees work 9-5, do they? I heard they put them hours in.Originally Posted by Mojodmonky1

Its the job security mostly. There is so much bureaucratic red tape that management has to go through in order to even discipline someone who has some sort of tenure within the government. Also, a lot of the jobs are effortless. My mother is a 30+ year government employee and even she has admitted that she doesn't really do anything in her current position.Originally Posted by ILL LEGAL OPERATION

This is probably the most truthful quote I've seen on this site in quite some time...
...my man, you have no idea how many times I've heard the phrase "good government job" come outta my mother's mouth pertaining to my career.
Like, more power to the folks who got 'em and all that, but why in DC do _s really preach that like those jobs are the epitome of success?
I mean seriously, they really do try to drill those jobs into the brains of DC youth like "that's what you should be aiming for"...
...those government jobs be flooded wit ho's though, I can't even front.
Keep ya head up man ... You don't have to do the same @%+! till you're 69 (why did you choose 69 BTW?) but anyway, I kind of feel ya, and that was the purpose behind going back to school for me. Try another market maybe.Originally Posted by DB WEST

-We can play radios so that helps sometimes
-I go out for lunch every single day and I take as long as I am allowed to take
-I delay my lunch for as late as possible so that when I get back there's not much more time left
-I realize that unless I somehow whip my own business out of my %!+ or live a life of crime, I have no choice and will do this until I'm like 69 (fml) and suck it up...depressing but it works
