Kinda always wished there was a part of NT where we could talk **** and roast people and no one would get reported, kinda like those "secret forums" you get to post in once you hit a certain post count.

Fifteen violations is just ridiculous...curious as to why he's still allowed on NT. Preferential treatment is one thing but fifteen?

It was a racist statement.

Seriously?  Black unemployment causes hooliganism?  Not only is that racist, that's old school, justification for vagrancy laws racism.

It would be one thing to say "unemployment causes hooliganism."  (It'd also be wrong, but if you'd bothered to research your views then you probably wouldn't have them.)  But no, you had to say that "Black unemployment" causes "hooliganism."  And that's just ignorant as hell.  I'm not giving you a pass on that.

Your "own people?"  Please.  You claim that when it's convenient, then you're the very first one to disassociate yourself when it suits you.

You're like a kid who grew up in Westchester, rocked Fubu in the '90s, and claimed Brooklyn.  Ten years later at the country club, somebody mentions something unflattering about NYC (maybe your hated soda ban) and it's "Oh, I wouldn't know about that.  I'm from White Plains."
Sheltered from the real world?  I'm sorry, where do you live again?  And what are your top priorities in life?  :lol

See, the difference is that I work off of evidence.  Community engagement is the highest it's been in many years.  That's based on statistical analysis of forum participation, not armchair observation.

We want everyone to feel welcome on our forums.  Rule number ONE makes it very clear that you're not allowed to post any defamatory comments about race, gender, or sexuality.  That's an important part of what we do here.  In fact, it's a large part of why NikeTalk exists in the first place.  You wouldn't know this, because you weren't there, but back in the late 90's NikePark's message board was filled with White supremacist hate speech (among other things.)  A group of us got sick of it and decided it was better to light a candle than curse the darkness.

We didn't start NikeTalk so people could do to our fellow members what people had been doing on NikePark.  We started NikeTalk so NOBODY could do to our fellow members what people had been doing on NikePark.  If you got it twisted, that's on you.  It's not on me.  Our rules have served us well for fourteen years now.  We're doing just fine.

Because one thread was made?  Sorry, but the world didn't stop spinning.  We actually had better traffic the month you were gone than we did in the two previous months.  I'm not saying your absence CAUSED an uptick in traffic.  I'm saying that, statistically speaking, your "break" had no appreciable impact whatsoever.

You're not as big of a deal as you think you are and you're certainly not bigger than the rules.  You have FIFTEEN violations on record.  FIFTEEN.  You insulted other users.  You promoted fakes.  (And please, spare us the hairsplitting rationalizations.  You rock fakes and tell yourself they're "just as good" because they MAY have been made using scrap materials.  Deal with it.)

I know it killed you that you didn't make the Complex "most influential NikeTalk members" list, but let's try to be real here.  You're letting your perceived "e-fame" go to your head if you think anything here revolves around you.

We made it into Kicks magazine and the Wall Street Journal without you.

We gained the attention of Michael Jeffrey Jordan without you.

We raised $5,000 for the Philippines without you.  We just donated $35,000 to support education in South Africa without you.

We had five GREAT anniversaries without you (and you never even sent me a damn card.)

We didn't need you then, and we don't need you now.

no one outside this website is gonna look at my appearance, read what i said, and deem it racist, describing this as "hypersensitive" would be a understatement.

we're in a generation now where EVERYTHING thats remotely critical of da black demographic

is "race card" worthy "boo hoo im a victim, blame everything of da color of my skin instead of my actions"

and its tiring...and HEAVENS forbid a fellow minority is critical of their own people, he's villainized

i've never been suspended over political correctness...its almost hilarious how soft and sheltered people here are from da real world.

i stop posting purposely here and my presence is felt immediately

WHEWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW

NINJAHOODS PRESENCE DONE CALLED UPON METH

WHEW NO ONE MAN SHOULD HAVE ALL THAT POWER

Community engagement is the highest in yearscuz we let ANYONE in this "community" now

Including 100 people to ask "whats ndc?" As their first post

And 100 to try n promote fake shoes

And 100 to resell and put themselves on

And more and more

Not to say we couldnt have had that back inthe day, but the floodgates have opened now
There are two components to this:

1)  I'm surprised that nobody has acknowledged the impact of mobile yet.  The ability to post on the go is a big deal.  You're not bound to a desktop and the mobile experience is MUCH better than it's ever been.  Participation will go up as a result.  In fact, nearly 1/3 of all visits are now registered from mobile devices.  Then, too, you have to factor in that the site actually LOADS whenever you visit it.  THAT helps, too.

2)  We've been getting the "sky is falling" complaint for 13 years now.

Every year, a new freshman class makes their way to high schools around the country.  Just as surely, every year members of the senior class look at the newcomers and say, "No way were we that small when we were freshmen."

Now, either the human population is getting shorter, or memories are distorted.

I don't know how you think you came across when you were new, but I can guarantee you that in 2001 there were a lot of "OGs" (as in actual ORIGINAL NikeTalk members) who were complaining about all the newcomers flooding in after we showed up in Kicks 2.

The Kicks 2 crowd was mercilessly reviled by our veterans.  You think you knew more than you did.  You think the questions you asked and the topics you'd posted had never been presented before.  (They had, countless times.)  Today's new users are no different.  In time, they're going to consider themselves veterans and THEY will complain about new users.  It's a cycle.

The more you see something, the less impact it has.  Your first photoshop thread was somebody else's fifteenth - or fiftieth.

We can't beat nostalgia.  I will readily admit that if a player came into the league and averaged 100 ppg, I'd still think Michael Jordan was better.  Your favorite NikeTalk era is pretty much always the era in which you joined.  Most people's favorite movies were made when they grew up.  Their favorite music was recorded when they grew up.  Their favorite video games were released when they grew up.  That's what set the standard for you.

Let the new users live.  If you want to help them, teach them.  Share your perspective.  But to look down your nose at them just because they don't know what "NDC" means is silly.  It shouldn't diminish your experience.  It's a sign that what you enjoyed when you were their age is still popular, and that you can pass on what matters to you in hopes that the coming generations will carry it forward.
Kinda always wished there was a part of NT where we could talk **** and roast people and no one would get reported, kinda like those "secret forums" you get to post in once you hit a certain post count.
Imagine that you visit the "flame" forum and someone tries to roast you.  You then see them commenting in the "General" section.  You're telling me there won't be any spillover?

No.  If you want a respectful environment, you maintain a respectful environment.  You don't give people an underground pit fighting ring so they can "blow off steam."

There are LOTS of places online that are overflowing with hatred.  I don't feel even the slightest desire to establish one here.

Full disclosure:  ohmygosher has been banned several times and is fresh off a suspension for saying "Pull your skirt down. Your getting emotional over a dead thug." in the Trayvon Martin thread.

So there's that.

It is ridiculous.  And it's even more ridiculous that he's even complaining about it.

He stays using the "stand your ground" defense, like it's a childhood squabble and "but HE STARTED IT" serves as a valid excuse.  (Gotta protect your e-rep.)

At a certain point, enough is enough.  He was given second chances, and when he makes a blatantly offensive statement (such as the one at issue here), then obviously I'm going to deeply regret those second chances.

If anyone has the right to feel betrayed here, it's me.  He's abused second (and tenth) chances extended in good faith - and now he's using one of those chances to start whining about how unfairly he's been treated.  Unbelievable.

Not sure what that has to do with anything, but....

On the real, the high level of policing (for the lack of a better term at the moment)/zero tolerance for hatred/bullying and bad language is what sets us apart from a lot of other message boards. It's nice having a message board where everything is SFW except for your occasional woman and boobies thread. Of course you have some friendly hazing from time to time, but that's what makes us somewhat of a brotherhood.

15 times is too much man ,god forgives NT doesn't .We have all messed up but 15 times is too much man

OMGosher should have been banned long ago
