Where to stay in San Diego for weekend trip???

I'm taking my lady to San Diego in May for the Beyonce concert and wanted to know where would be the best area to get a hotel in?  We want to be somewhere close to restaurants and things to do if that helps any.  Also what are some things we have to visit or see while we are there?

I think the Beyonce concert is @ Qualcomm so if you want to stay around that area, stay in Mission Valley. Nightlife is somewhat limited there but there are a lot of restaurants (more of chains though). You might want to look into staying in downtown, where there's a lot to do and tons of good restaurants or by one of the beaches like Mission Bay.

I second this. Hotels were mad cheap around that area too.

I was thinking about downtown and i've heard good things about gaslamp.

You can but it takes almost 1 hour despite not being that far away
